But at least Azpi has played for Spain...16 times!

True. But like with the England national team, I'm sure a lot of selection is based on which club players come from. Willian barely got a look in for Brazil for example before moving here.

Bottom line in all this is the board yet again didn't get their window of need sorted out and have to dig through the pile that Stoke and Hull dig through to get players in. Conte needs a heart to heart with Roman about ditching the imbociles handling transfers.

Marcos Alonso would surprise many as he's moving closer to Chelsea. He can play LB, LM or even CB. Powerful run, intelligent+solid defender

Antonio Conte and his Chelsea push to close in the latter market hours the arrival of Marcos Alonso from #Fiorentina. (via @DiMarzio) #CFC

Since Chelsea's first offer of €20m+bonuses, #CFC has raised its bid to about €28m, including bonuses, for Marcos Alonso (via @DiMarzio)

Chelsea's €28m offer is very close to the request of #Fiorentina, of €30m, to close the deal for defender Marcos Alonso (via @DiMarzio) #CFC

Marcos Alonso impressed me at Fiorentina- more importantly Conte is pushing to sign him & he knows Serie A well

The price would be nowhere near 28m if we went for him earlier in the transfer market. Just saying.

So many people on this forum think if we negotiate more and more we can get better deals. I'm no expert in the process of signing a player, but recent history shows that wrapping up the deal early in the transfer market is more profitable and allows the player to mold with the squad.

And?? He was still on the bench for the First two games because of Adam Smith

And there are 36 more league games in a season. Why should another team commit all their time to a young loanee if they have a player that can fulfill that position permanently? It not as simple as quality over quality, there are many factors that go into first team selection. The fact that Ake is even being trusted with minutes at another club is a good sign of the stock they've put in him.
