No way Atleti don't renew his contract after his 2nd half of the season. Think he'll retire there.

Would make sense for now, but I think he'll will his career elsewhere (China possibly)

Liverpool portrayed me as a traitor... but the club could not admit they were wrong, claims Fernando Torres

  • Fernando Torres left Liverpool for Chelsea in big-money move in 2011
  • The Spaniard sparked outrage among Reds fans when he departed
  • Torres believes the Premier League club portrayed him as a 'traitor'
  • The 32-year-old suggested he was a scapegoat for Liverpool's mistakes

PUBLISHED: 18:37 +10:00, 17 August 2016 UPDATED: 18:37 +10:00, 17 August 2016

Former Liverpool star Fernando Torres has hit out at the Anfield club for portraying him as a 'traitor' following his big-money move to Chelsea in 2011.

The Spaniard sparked outrage among Reds fans when he signed for their Premier League rivals for a whopping £50million, a then British transfer record fee.

But Torres, 32, has opened up on his move to Chelsea, where he won the FA Cup and the Champions League, by suggesting he had no choice but to leave the Reds.

Looks like Torres will be leaving Atletico at the end of the season. Sign him up!

If he is injured too, why not.

Torres just announced his retirement and the Chelsea official website came up with that famous and heavily used line :D

A World Cup-winner and a European champion with Spain, he joined Chelsea from Liverpool in January 2011 with his most memorable highlights with us including his Champions League semi-final breakaway against Barcelona at the Camp Nou, which made certain that the team would go through to our famous final in Munich, and the goal that helped beat Benfica to lift the Europa League trophy a year later. He also won the corner from which Didier Drogba headed our equaliser against Bayern Munich in the first of those two European finals.

'He won the corner.' :D

In hindsight, if we had 'football' people at the club, his signing wouldn't of happened. Just look at Liverpool with Fekir. They saw his knee scans, and realised the risk of investment he would be.

Torres was a player who strived on pace, power, and athleticism. He lost almost all of his pace through countless hamstring injuries and the meniscus tear in his right knee. After the world cup, it was evident he wasn't half the player anymore. Taking all of that into consideration, the fact we splashed 50 million on a player who didn't have tools to perform as good as he did, was a mockery.

Still, thanks for winning the corner. :)
