Chelsea Still Looking For ‘right Ones’, Reveals Kenyon – Blues To Make Announcement Next Week

Chelsea are looking to bring in more players this month and chief executive Peter Kenyon said an announcement will hopefully be made next week.

The Blues, who miss key players – Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Michael Essien and Mikel due to their national commitment for African Nations Cup, are looking to compensate and keep their title hopes alive.

“I think we're still looking as always, not for many but for the right ones and there will hopefully be another announcement next week,” Kenyon told Chelsea TV.

As such, Avram Grant has got in prolific striker Nicolas Anelka in a £15m deal from Bolton last week to offset the absence of Drogba, and Kenyon disclosed that the negotiations were quite complicated.

“Negotiations are always difficult and this has proven no different. But I think he was Bolton's major player and clearly that's always difficult to prise away,” Kenyon commented.

“Those discussions have been going on for a couple of months but we got there very late on Thursday night, Friday morning, and we were lucky enough to get him registered and conclude everything on Friday night.

“But they handled the negotiations extremely well and we are delighted to have him.”

On Setanta Sports News last night it mentioned that we were preparing a bid for Iniesta

I think that is just a roumer at the moment and not sure how much substance there is to that story at the moment, although it would be a cracking signing.

I don't think we need anyone else. I don't know where we are weakened atm, with a fully fit squad, it will be impossible to control if we get iniesta too. no need.

I agree that Iniesta would be a great signing, but a luxurious one really. We don't need him either for cover or first team. I agree with Esk that is just a rumor at the moment, maybe a smokescreen for somebody else. God knows who though. I don't think Kenyon is talking about Ivanovic, as that deal is almost done and dusted. So no need for the "cloak and dagger" announcement next week talk.
