I did and Choulo is absolutely right, hashtags are used for global discussions. What is a global discussion though :P according to my nigga dictionary, it's a discussion involving the world, and that's what we are having so far :P. You're from Algeria, me from Karachi, you see my point there :P #2edgy4u #yolo

Did you read that Backstreet09 :readthemessage:

Also, how can I 'mention" someone in my posts so it will appear in his notifications ?

I have the same query myself! I thought by using '@' but that didn't happen when i tried to tag James here.

Two ways:

1) Highlight some of the text in their post. You will get two options: "Quote" and "Mention". Select the latter.

2) Simply write in your post [ member='member's name' ] without the spaces.

OMG, NOOB ALLERT! :P

On Twitter, hashtag is some sort of link algorith in which the server can track what is written afterwards. So, for instance, if I want Benitez sacked, I type #rafaout. If there are a lot of people worldwide doing the same hashtag, it becomes a trending topic (because it is being highly discussed/used)...

On Instagram, the hashtag is used to help on the search engine and to place your photo into certain categories. For instance, if I take a pic of SB, I can type #cfc, #chelsea, #stamfordbridge, #london and #epl. Whenever someone searches for any of the words I hashtagged, my photo will appear.

However, stupid people are using it everywhere. Specially on facebook statys and photos, even if they have no utility...

lol yup i'm a noob, especially with social media sites anyway :) that makes sense, I just wondered why people were starting to 'hashtag' random things even on facebook even when it has no use whatsoever.

You're like a puppy with a bone and can't let go. I don't know - why can't a woman be a provider for a family (wife, husband, kids)? I think she can, but it means she must be very good at what she does and have luck to compensate the roughly 30% salary gap between men and women. Also pregnancy and leave from work to be with her newborn are slimming her chances of having a steady progress on the career ladder. So no, it is not my opinion, just being a realist not a romantic.

You're finally talking some sense.
