Questioning and execution

Balthasar was imprisoned and made a long written statement about his motives at his own request. He was interrogated the same day, but did not let go of much. The aldermen decided to carry out torture , an at the time not uncommon "interrogation method". The first night in prison, Balthasar was beaten with rods . His wounds were smeared with honey so that a goat with his sharp tongue would be able to scrape off his skin while he watched . However, the buck did not feel like it. Balthasar spent the rest of the night with his hands tied to his feet. The executioners hung him for half an hour, weighing 300 pounds on each big toe. He still didn't speak enough and was put on too small shoes made of wet rawhide dog leather. They put it in front of a big fire so that the shoes shrank and his feet burned. They held glowing torches under his armpits and put needles and nails between his nails, but Balthasar did not budge. In the end, the Utrecht executioner Jacob Michielsz was called in, but Balthasar remained firm and answered in the matter. The involvement of other people in the attack was not demonstrated, but Balthasar did mention the name of Parma.

Balthasar was tried on July 13. The court was of the opinion that he should be punished for copying everyone else's sigh righoreuselycken . They sentenced the murderer to an extremely cruel punishment, even for sixteenth-century standards. He was to be led to the scaffold the next day.

His right hand, with which he co-committed the murderous act, will be pinched with glowing pliers; then you will pinch the flesh to the bone in various places on your body, such as your arms, legs and toes where most of the meat is, with glowing tongs. Then he is quartered alive, starting from below, after which the heart will be cut from his chest and will be thrown in his face. Finally, one will cut off his head, after which his four disassembled parts should be exhibited on the Haagpoort, Oostpoort, Ketelpoort and the Waterslootsepoort. His head must be impaled on a stake and then placed at the former home of the prince. His property is confiscated and benefits the Lord. :wow:

U.K. Subs - Violent City

Walking the streets of a violent city
One day you're gonna make your big mistake
Someone more mob handed than you
Is gonna put you in a ward for a week or so
When you're living in a violent city
Yeah, we're living in a violent age
Saturday afternoon comes around
We're all down to the football ground
Two nil down when half time comes
If we don't win we're gonna run
