Arnesen wants Bruma at Hamburg

Outgoing Chelsea director of football Frank Arnesen is set to take up a new role at Hamburg - and take a string of Blues stars with him.

In his sights is Jeffrey Bruma, the promising young defender currently on loan at Leicester City.

Hamburg have been keen on the Dutch centre-back since last summer and now Arnesen is coming over, he will use his Chelsea contacts to broker a loan deal for the 19-year-old that would last a season.

The Bundesliga side want Bruma permanently but talkSPORT understands Chelsea are unwilling to let one of their promising stars leave, though they could be open to a loan deal in order to get Bruma more first team experience.

The German league isn't that bad... but as long as it is a decent, guaranteed first team football for Bruma, I believe we are all up for it!

I highly believe he will be out for loan the next season.

Bruma agrees Hamburg loan

Jeffrey Bruma's agent has confirmed the Chelsea defender is set to join Hamburg on loan.

Former Chelseaspacer.gif sporting director Frank Arnesen had lined up a deal for Bruma after taking up a similar role at Hamburgspacer.gif earlier this summer.

The German giants have agreed a deal to sign Bruma on loan for the next two seasons with Chelsea having the option to recall him in the summer of 2012.

Bruma's agent, Wessel Weezenberg, believes the move is right for the Dutchman as he searches for regular first-team football.

'It is important Jeffrey gets playing. For him this is a good step," Weezenberg Voetbal International.

Stability

"We have chosen stability for Jeffrey. These two years Jeffrey has to play and he can settle in this way.

"At Chelsea that will be difficult, but in Hamburg the chance is bigger. However, he will have to prove it by himself.

"For him it is a good step. Hamburg is and remains a top team, with a fantastic stadium and a giant fanbase."

Weezenberg insists Hamburg held a long-term interest in Bruma before the arrival of Arnesen.

When asked if Arnesen was a big admirer of Bruma, Weezenberg said: "That is right. But Hamburg followed Jeff for years before Arnesen came to work here.

"The signing of Bruma is based on the impressions of many people at HSV."

Jeffrey Bruma has today (Thursday June 30) signed on loan with Hamburg on a one-year loan deal.

The Dutch defender, who recently made the step up from the Under 21 to the full international squad, will spend next season at the Imtech Arena, with the option of another year afterwards.

The 19-year-old spent three months on loan at Leicester City last season, scoring two long-range goals against Watford in his 11 appearances.

Prior to that Bruma had made his first team debut for Chelsea in late 2009 and has gone on to make nine appearances so far.

He remains contracted to Chelsea until 2014, and will link up with former Chelsea team-mates Michael Mancienne, Jacopo Sala and Gokhan Tore, who all recently signed permanent deals with the German club.

This guy is sucking bit time at Hamburg!

I doubt he will continue to be starting eleven if he continues like that.

Well much likely won't with reports of Rajko going to Hamburg....

Mancienne has been found out. Always said he wasn't good enough to be a regular at Chelsea, maybe could've been a bit like our very own John O'Shea but certainly no starter. Absolutely horrible so far. 3m for him looks like a better deal every passng day.

Bruma has been in those defeats as well, but he's not as bad as he's being painted out to be. In fact without him they would have shipped even more.

Bruma should play holding midfield, he did so for Leicester once and was MOTM. He got a bit of a pasting by Rooben and Ribery but lets be honest he is hardly the first player to fall foul in that department.
