As for the game it was the most comfortable second leg of a CL tie you could wish for. Excellent game management.

Yep, even if we don't win it puts our name firmly back on the map. On another note how much better is it having these runs knowing we have one in the bank already?

Why do so many people act like two games are the same? We won this tournament the same season McLeish and Pardew won at The Bridge ffs.

We simply CANNOT deal with the high energy, aggressive pressing. No matter what team does it to us it’s extremely effective. They press us and we then can’t string together ANY sort of passing moves. It’s embarrassing. Over both legs now we’ve looked like the ones who are the scrappy underdog with a limited budget and are just happy to be this deep in the competition.

With Jorginho and Kante as the pair there is no connection between the midfield and attack at all. It’s just either hoofing it up aimlessly into open space or launching a counter attack when Porto lose the ball. Just like the first leg. We can’t play football at all.

This is why we 100% need to prioritize a top midfielder this summer. Jorginho can boss the middle of the pitch against Palace and the like who don’t press. He’s useless and an active hindrance in big games.

He is hard to watch but I feel we need his defensive game, especially his strength against these fuckers.

CHO would offer offensive threat and their left-back wouldn't press up very high. Which means we can potentially control that right side.

Judging by Tuchel's reaction at half, gaining attacking control is far from his concern.

You might be right, but sitting back too much and inviting pressure is even more dangerous imo

Tomo, we do not need to be reminded of getting spanked at home by a rubbish Villa side back then...

Lots need to be said about some player's performances. The midfield two and James need to step it up.

All the more reasoning why an elite CM should be a priority.

Leon Goretzka is impossible

so

Eduardo Camavinga (donside is every huge team wants him)

Marcos Llorente (insanely expensive if AM refuses to come off his release clause)

Federico Valverde (near impossible)

Youri Tielemans (proven EPL star)

Houssem Aouar (doable)

Marco Verratti (near impossible)

Saúl Ñíguez (insanely expensive if AM refuses to come off his release clause)

Ryan Gravenberch (very young still, huge potential, but a dice roll if he is meant to be the one)

Jorginho's been one of our best players I felt? Recoveries, interceptions and tackles have been good. Needs to take a bit more control of the game but he’s doing the other side of the game well which people usually pan him for. I get the feeling we have another gear or two to go up though. Most of the players can do better though in midfield and attack.
