What is this based on? Chilwell did not have Kante baby sitting him. Watch him for the first half of the season. He looked really good. Yes 50m is 15m too much, but in no way is he anywhere as bad as DD

It was obviously a bit of a tongue in cheek comment as I dont really rate Chilwell. As opposed to Drinky he has age on his side and is probably more hungry having won 0 so far. But there are some similarities in terms of the deals. We are gonna massively overpay on both wages and fee bc of English tax and Leicester playing hardball. Also Leicester's system  (esp the great anticipation by Söyüuncü and their wingers tracking bakc like mad) papers over the glarign weaknesses Chilwell has just like Kante did with Drinky. Also both are/were injured at the time of the deal missing the start of the season and have a record of fitness issues.

 

I think with our defence and not so defensive wing set up Chilwell will be way out of his depth.Even so, I dont think he is a bad player. The first match of his i saw was when he absolutely demolished some minnow national team with England and he can do likewise with the weaker EPL sides but vs merely above average wingers he has been burned numerous times this season.

It could be that the 190k/week figure includes bonuses related to performances. Although it makes more sense to have bonuses for attacking players. It's really odd. His current contract isn't a big one.

It is like the other English players we buy. Drinkwater and Barkley have really good contracts, while Ziyech and Kovacic got ripped off. But this is PL. Average English players earn very good at top clubs.

Makes sense because these english "talents" earning 100k since they are 18...and obv goes only up with every new contract.

Still 190k for Chilwell is ridiculous.

I'd be really surprised if Chillwell gets 190k/wk.

But he should be getting around 120-140k easily. Maddison just signed a new deal at Leicester and got 110k/wk so even clubs like Leicester without CL football pay those kind of wages. If he'd extended his deal Chillwell would've definitely got around the same so it makes sense for an ambitious CL level club to pay a little bit more. But 190 is still stretching it.

Ben Chilwell's move to Chelsea is imminent. Hearing it is just pending announcement now. Thiago Silva possibly announced tomorrow. Leverkusen have been in London on since Monday. Not much noise around Havertz but his deal could be announced this week. Exciting times. #CFC
