Rice.

he is not worth £100m or so

and has holes in his game

I still think he is better (after a settling in period) moving to CB

I don't understand these rumours, it sounds like a big offer is waiting for happen otherwise they wouldn't keep rehashing it over and over. I'd love to get him even if it means we overpay but not holding my breath.

Absolutely not worth 100m. But if we can somehow get that price down to between 60-75 I’d say he’s worth it. PL proven, only 22, homegrown, and a potential captain like personality. He could lock down a spot in our XI for a decade.

We’ve got to have a player or multiple players that are of interest to WH as a makeweight.

Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke on Haaland...

https://www.football.london/Chelsea-fc/transfer-news/dortmund-Chelsea-erling-haaland-transfer-21176001

"It is pretty clear to me that Erling Haaland will stay at Dortmund, just as Julian Brandt will remain" Watzke’s told Dortmund’s in-house media channel.

"I tend to say that every day but no one really seems to listen as I hear something new every week."

West Ham hold all the cards

they have zero incentive to come down to £60-65m, which is the most I value Rice at (£50m + £10-15m English tax)

John Obi Mikel.

I have seen very little of Tchouameni, he does reminds me of Obi Mikel. His physical stature, how he shields the ball, and sprays passes is very Obi Mikel like.

The funny thing is West Ham don't really have money and if they want money, they would have to sell players. Good for them if they keep Rice but can their current squad cope with the extra burden of Europa League next season? Don't they still need a striker since Lingard is gone and Antonio is injury prone?

You do wonder whether West Ham would be in a position to turn an offer down if we offered something like Zouma, Barkley and Abraham in exchange for Rice.

I know that is almost certainly never going to happen exchanging 4 players in one deal but they are three players who are capable of starting for West Ham, all still at a good age. It would strengthen their squad in my opinion even if they lost Rice as a result, but in our situation it would be moving on three disposable players for one that we want.

We are getting property shafted with that deal. Obviously West Ham value Rice highly, but if we are comparing price to quality, we are essentially offering West Ham 80-85 million worth of players for someone who is 40 million tops.

Gold and Sullivan want to sell, and a new owner will likely have a shedload of cash.

Yes, for sure they need a striker, but also need a CB and they deffo want Lingard, whom Manure want £30m for, but I think they will deffo accept less as he leaves on a free next summer.

Toss

Ings (or Tammy)

Lingard

Zouma

on that side (and keep Rice)

and they are in really good shape even depth wise, and Aouar is out there for only £18m or so

True and it's unlikely to happen but when you factor in the wages that we would be shedding by swapping those 3 players away (Barkley is earning close to 100k p/w, IIRC?), then it's maybe worth it from a financial POV.

Whilst I somewhat agree, these are three players who are obviously dispensable and so far we haven't received offers acceptable to us.

Getting a player that we want in exchange for three players that we're trying to rid of and probably save a few million a year in wages isn't the worst business.

Having said that Zouma and Barkley will have extremely low amortisation values now and Tammy's would be nil so purely from an accounting perspective we'd be better off selling all three if we could and putting a bid in for Rice. Same with selling Zouma for the right price rather than include in a player exchange.

If we aren't including Zouma into a deal, then selling him shouldn't be a problem, I think. He's on low wages and isn't too expensive. But with the other two...

Abraham's wages isn't high but is valued at £40 million while am not sure about Barkley's current value (maybe £20m-£30m?) but he's earning close to £100k wages p/w. We're gonna need some parties to bite the bullet here if we want to attract buyers for the both of them.

Yeah I've no doubts we've probably been taken aback a little by how much of a struggle it currently is to move players on.

Players like Zouma, Tammy and Barkley you'd assume would be amongst the more desirable and easier to sell players, especially when you see some of the other players we still have.

I do think in the end though we'll manage to move most, if not all, that we want to. Whilst teams that want to keep hold of players will likely become even more reluctant to sell later into the window, buying clubs will usually become more desperate which actually works in our favour for players we're willing to sell for the right money.
