Didier Drogba's advisor Ceylan Caliskan claims Chelsea failed with a bid to take the striker back to Stamford Bridge.

The Ivorian left west London in the summer of 2012 after eight trophy-laden years in English football.

Drogba opted to move on as a free agent and try his luck in China with Shanghai Shenhua, before returning to Europe with Turkish outfit Galatasaray in January.

He is now 35 years of age, but he remains a firm favourite of returning Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese tactician was hoping to re-sign a man he first snapped up for £24million in 2004, but his efforts to arrange a reunion have come to nothing.

Caliskan said: "Mourinho called Drogba and told him he would like to see him back.

"However, Drogba is very happy at Galatasaray and he informed his former coach that he has no intention of leaving."

does it sound like Didier would answer like that?

It's SSN though, so who knows?

Kinda hope he won't finish his career in Turkey. He is appreciated there but I doubt he considers it 'home' like here or, where I think it would be more fitting to retire, Marseille.

I don't want him back. Seeing him now would only diminish the view of Drogba. Him leaving with his last kick being the European-Cup-winning penalty has created a perfect image that would only be tarnished.

RUMOUR - DROGBA BACK TO THE BRIDGE?

Chelsea are set to offer former striker Didier Drogba a player-coach role at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are keen to lure the Ivorian back to west London with the club confident he can play for three more years, says the Daily Mirror.

What a story that would be - Jose and Didier forever....

i know it's just a rumour. but maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea, if we don't get rooney or another striker

that would be great for the development off lukaku

if he's beeing teached by he's idol and second father like he calls him

and mourinho.

give the boy 2 or 3 more years then and lukaku would be a very good striker then and fierced by every defense

If we pull this thru, it'l be the best signing for us this summer, even if we sign Rooney.

^ brilliant post. His ever-lasting image here is one of being an absolute footballing hero. You can't make that sort of stuff up, it literally is the thing dreams are made of.

Coming back here and being a shadow of what he was in Munich will ruin that romantic image.
