Okay...what prompted him to suddenly say that?

It was a radio interview. Usually that means he was asked a question and answered it. Marsch’s demeanor and reputation are known quantities for anyone who cares to try to understand the context.

Would like to think it's not his intention to do so but his comments are the kind of comments that could stir an unnecessary shitstorm.

Lampard's response...

Then he goes on to employ, subtly, all the stereotypes Marsch detected.  But whatever. They all seem happy with each other now, so it’s all good.

Is it the same Hamstring that went out on him at the end of last season?

Was it his left hamstring back then? Looks like his left here?

At least he was able to walk off on his own this time...

‘Yes, he felt a little something in his hamstring.

‘He’s frustrated because he’s worked so hard to get fit.

‘He’s played three games, we’ve tried to manage him in the week and it’s a small feeling in his hamstring so we’ll have to see how he is over the next 24 hours.’

The Chelsea boss added: ‘Hopefully it’s short term, we’re talking weeks.

‘It’s a minor feeling that he had but definitely not right to go into 90 minutes of a game with that.’

At least the international break is coming up...

How can you injure yourself without any contact or pressure on a plain field of grass? there does not even seem to be a ball in the vicinity. The boy really is a glass cannon needs to be managed super carefully. maybe sit him out the next two games so he cant feature in the intl break at least

Tbf you dont need contact to get a hamstring injury. Could be an accumulation of many things. Hopefully 2/3 weeks then he is fine because we need him to he fit. He is probably still our most important attacking player.

It’s something I believe won’t ever change. His muscles can’t withstand a period of contractions you’d want in a top athlete without getting fatigued relatively quickly. Fatigued muscle fibers are then prone to tear.

It’s simply his genetic makeup.
