Álvaro Morata

Looks like the PLs physicality’s helping Alvaro already. Way he bullied some of the strongest La Liga defending was incredible. He’s stepping up to the challenge big time, and he’ll only get better once his understanding with Hazard improves.

Very complete performance, his hold up play was actually outstanding. If this is the sort of player we’ll get on a consistent basis... he’s already winning me over. Still giving him a season to settle in though - think he’ll actually be better next season.

His hold up and link play was sensational in my opinion. If this is what he can do on a regular basis then I'm sold.

Champions League goals for Chelsea:

Batshuayi - 2

Costa - 2

Morata - 1

its really baffling to think that Costa only has 2 goals for us in the Champions League in 3 seasons, you would have expected him to score a lot more than that, Michy in his first champions league game with us already bags 2 and is equal with Costa, ok sure, it didnt help to get knocked out by PSG twice in a row in the last 16, but its really poor by Costa´s standards. It just goes to show how underwhelming we have been at this stage and we need to do better in the future, i have a very good feeling about our current chances, but first let´s make sure we qualify from the group, then we will see.

“It’s a muscular problem. I don’t think it’s serious. He said to me: ‘Coach I prefer to stop, otherwise I risk having a bad injury.’ I don’t know. The doctor in the next few days will check the situation but I don’t think he will be available for the national team.”
