Antonio Rudiger

Welcome Tony.

Conte wanted him last year, so he gets him now.

Conte turned Cahill in a class defender in the 3-4-3 system so I have faith he can also turn Rudiger around into a good CB.

Not his biggest fan so I hope he proves me wrong.

Who is he even going to replace?

David as sweeper has been excellent and Cahill is captain and to be honest has been good for Chelsea since the switch to 3-4-3. Doubt it's gonna be Azpi.

He's not the very best defender but Rudiger has so much space for improvement that in short time we could have here maybe even better version than Boateng. Best of luck to him.

1/5, 4 more to come.

Roma fans think highly of him. It should be enough to at least tell us that we are getting a good defender.

They don't exactly have the highest standards.

They had the second best defense in Serie A last season. Unless you are saying that Serie A's offensive players are garbage?

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce we have today completed the signing of Antonio Rudiger from Roma.

The 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract and will wear the No.2 shirt.

The defender said: ‘It’s a great feeling because not every player has the opportunity to join a huge club like this.

'I am looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and I’m very proud to officially become a Chelsea player.’

Technical Director Michael Emenalo added: ‘We are pleased to be able to bring in a player of proven quality who adds to our defensive options.

'Antonio is still young but is experienced at club and international level and possesses all the requisite attributes to thrive in the Premier League. We have been aware of him for some time and we are confident he will fit in well with the squad.’
