if Zouma was just at Dunk's level on the ball (or Maguire's, not remotely asking for the next Puyol or Ramos or Carvalho or Maldini here, lolol) and was better at spatial awareness and positioning, I would NEVER be slating him

but he isn't, and never will be,so I cannot abide him at all as a starting CB for a team at our level of aspiration

This was rare but amazing :D

Report: Rudiger considers Chelsea future after squad omission

https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/club-news/report-rudiger-considers-chelsea-future-after-squad-omission/

Antonio Rudiger is reportedly considering his future at Chelsea after being left out of the matchday squad for Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool.

The 27-year-old made 20 Premier League appearances under Frank Lampard last season but has found himself behind in the pecking order since the start of the new season.

He was on the bench during Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Brighton on 14 September but didn’t even make that against Liverpool as younger centre-back option Fikayo Tomori got the nod instead.

Speaking about his decision, Lampard told Chelsea’s official website: “We now have five centre-halves at the club and I can’t pick a squad that has three of them on the bench – so that’s the way it is.

“I have to pick the squad from training and different situations and that was a selection one today.”

Lampard backed his decision and said he was delighted with Tomori’s display in the second half.

“He [Tomori] hasn’t played for a while and has been struggling with fitness like most of the squad but I was delighted with him,” Lampard added.

Thiago Silva’s arrival could push Rudiger into fifth choice and, according to a report from Sky Sports, he is now reviewing his options.

The report said Rudiger wants regular football to ensure a place in the Germany squad for next year’s Euros.

Given the busy fixture schedule this season, Lampard will certainly want as many centre-back options as possible.

With only two years left on Rudiger’s contract, however, it makes sense for Chelsea to consider cashing in on him should he ask to leave.

Lampard did not rule out Rudiger leaving in this window...

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/09/22/could-antonio-rudiger-callum-hudson-odoi-leave-chelsea-remains/

Asked directly whether either Rudiger or Hudson-Odoi could leave before the transfer window shuts, Lampard said: “I’m going to skirt around that question. It remains to be seen.

“We’re not in a period where the transfer window or market is acting like it has done in recent years in terms of how players move or what level they move at.

“Again, the competitive games have just started. I’m very open to those conversations with the players as the next couple of weeks go on. My priority will always be making sure I maintain and keep the strongest squad I can for this club but after that, of course, the individual conversations will happen within that. I will try and make sure I go into the season once the window shuts with the squad that I feel is competitive in a healthy way.”

I actually a little bit sad for him. I never rated him, but Chelsea used him big time, so they could get some German players. Poor guy

What a joke we are sometimes, guy played a blinder helping securing Werner and Havertz and now is kicked out the door the same season, embarrassing nothing more to say.

Then he should go pursue a career as an agent. His on field performances don't merit him a position in the squad
