The Blues defender was involved in an incident in Manchester as tensions ran high in a historic loss for the club

Antonio Rudiger was involved in a heated exchange with Chelsea supporter as he gave his match shirt to a fan as he went to apologise for an embarrassing 6-0 defeat to league leaders Manchester City.

The Blues defender was the last of many players including Eden Hazard, David Luiz, Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso to go to apologise to the travelling support on Sunday.

Stewards at the Etihad Stadium stepped in to pull away from the supporter, who was shouting at the Chelsea centre back, as he handed his shirt over.

I admit it took me a little while to warm to the guy for some reason. But I've got to really like the guy.   I would like to see him more vocal on the pitch but theres no doubt he has the respect of al the lads and he is great for the dressing room spirits.

Ate mate!

Would love to see him have a really good partner! Someone with a bit of muscle when needed but a baller.

I'd try Dave there. Would be better than where he is now.  Bring Reece in. Zappa as back up if we keep him

To me he can become the captain.

He has a really aura of authority to him and is a good player.

Rudiger on Sarri, Kepa, & Jorginho

Rudiger's recent quotes really sound like he's future captain material. Thought these would be of interest.

On Sarri: "I think everyone has adapted to new things — also the coach. You saw the way we played against Tottenham and Manchester City [in the past week]? It was different to the way we played in the first three months."

“Everyone needs to adapt. Have we found a good balance of how to play? Definitely. In life, you need to adapt to things. This League is different to Italy, you have to adjust a bit.”

When asked if it has been a learning curve for Sarri, Rudiger said: “Of course. He learned from that game against City. There we went high, we went to press, we wanted to win the ball and everyone knows what happened."

“We can play both [styles]. But it is always good to find the golden middle. It depends on the coach. He gives the tactics and the players follow.”

“It is good to know we have things in our own hands “We started with the win against Tottenham and now we have beaten Fulham. We want to continue like this. It’s not important to speak about other clubs. We need to look at own house and get our own things solved.”

On Kepa: "Of course what happened (in the EFL Cup Final) was sad. He made a mistake, he said ‘sorry’ and this thing is now in the past and that’s good, especially with performances like this it’s very good. He gained the trust back. He definitely showed his quality. The goal we conceded, he couldn’t do anything about that, but in the rest of the game he saved us. That’s why we have him.”

On Jorginho: "The thing about him is that people need to give him a bit of time. He also came from a different competition, he is probably not used to this hard game. You also need to adapt."
