As a back up, at the time, it made perfect sense. It's not like Begovic was shit come his Stoke days, we in fact tried to sign him in 2010 before we had Courtois from Genk.

He's certainly more capable than Turnbull or Hilario, days when they were filling in for Cech was far too unbearable & embarrassing. So I'm far happier with Begovic tbh.

Turnbull was thrash but Hilario was actually pretty good at filling in for one/two of games, it was when he had to play more he started flaking.

Last season he was good enough for some to call for him to start over Courtois. He had some poor performances at the end of the season, but at the beginning, he was very good and helped keep the horrible run of matches from being worse.

I feel he was overrated, or maybe he just looked good compared to the rest of the team I dunno.

He got beat six times at his near post (which is quite ironic considering that was the main reason people wanted Tibo dropped in spring) and should have done better for a further four goals, ten goals in a few months is a lot.

Bego is one of the best backup keepers on the planet. I can't understand anyone who thinks we should replace him with someone else. Our GK department is fantastic and literally the least of our worries. Courtois-Cech was probably the best GK duo in Premier League history and something that was always going to be just a temporary situation.

Was not expecting that header from Kouyate and that in itself was a mistake along with his positioning.

17 yards out from a header and beaten, should not happen.

Header was strong and went straight to the post. Not much he can do. That header was more powerful than most of Fabregas' leg-shoots actually. :D

Slaven Bilic wants Chelsea stopper

Asmir Begovic at West Ham on loan after losing faith

with goalkeepers Adrian and Darren Randolph

  • Slaven Bilic keen to wrap up loan deal for Chelsea's back-up goalkeeper
  • West Ham's boss no longer has confidence in Adrian or Darren Randolph
  • Asmir Begovic is playing second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4003318/Slaven-Bilic-targets-Asmir-Begovic-loan-West-Ham-losing-faith-Adrian-Darren-Randolph.html

West Ham want to loan Asmir Begovic in the January transfer window.

The Hammers are on the look out for a new No 1, news revealed by Sportsmail at the end of last month after Slaven Bilic lost faith with Adrian.

The Spanish goalkeeper has since been axed from the starting XI and Darren Randolph has been given a chance to stake his claim for the jersey but the club are unconvinced.

Can want what they like but there cant be a chance in hell we would/could sell him. It would be keeper suicide for us.

Conte confirmed there has been an offer and the club is discussing things about the situation.

He wouldn't leave us with Carvalho as backup would he? And with us still in one cup hes got some game time coming still.

And come summer we might just be Tiboless.

Eduardo you mean?

Begovic is homegrown,  isn't he? If he were to leave we should try get a decent English back up keeper so we have one more for that criteria. No idea who though, Heaton would be great but he's maybe to good to be backup?

Hopefully he'll stay but I can understand if he would like to become a starter once again.

We've been so lucky with backup keepers.. Cudicini, Cech two seasons ago, Begovic, (Terry). Even Hilario, despite all his faults, put in some spectacular performances when he first came. Bego is definitely good enough to be starting for somebody, as were Cudi and Cech.
