Diego Costa

Hate to be the one saying "I told you so" but I said on the Diego Costa wishlist thread that I won't swap him for any striker in the world right now. He's world class and what we've seen so far is only a tip of the iceberg You guys who were crying for Cavani, will you seriously swap him for Costa now?

This team is going to have some fight in it next season.

Imagine a nasty tackle going in on someone like Hazard. Handbags will ensue and there aren't many teams who would want to face an angry Costa, Ivanovic, Matic, Cahill, JT, even Fabregas and Azpi would want to get involved. They'd be luck if Zouma was on the bench too.

I must admit he's playing better and looking to be a better player than I expected, granted I'm only watching highlights because my internet sucks for streams right now. I just hope this isn't one of those misleading pre-season performances.

trust me - if you can :P

I'm not his biggest fan, wasn't that much convinced he'd do really well here, but so far much better than good. He's impressed me and I've watched both matches in full. It's not about the goal and the assists, it's about how he's just all around better than I've expected. Showed to be more than just the guy that will score because of his physical attributes. It's not about running and shoving opponents around. He links up well, he's smart, he even tries the slight fancy play and can actually do it. Always thought he was good finishing and was a physical player, but he's more than that, or at least he showed in two matches.

But I don't think it's pre-season spell. If anything, he'll play even better as time passes - not only because he'll get used to the club, the teammates and the style of the league, but because he still seems to have some ceiling to grow.

He's proved me wrong very quickly - as I was a bit skeptical about him. I've never been happier about being wrong before. And that's only two matches down the road. Consider me slightly excited (for full excitement I'll need some of that in some official matches)

That's what I meant by better player. I was totally expecting him to be more of a slower and get the ball to the back of the net with limited technical ability kind of player.

We officially have a white drogba at chelsea in Diego Costa. If costa actually plays like this on a consistent basis and against big clubs too then our opponents are in trouble because despite his impact so far he seems only to be catching up on fitness therefore he isn't even fully focused on his game yet. He has unlimited energy like hazard, is strong like drogba, very smart and gives defenders no rest, a very good finisher, unselfish team player, has strong character, intelligent runs, good technique, can dribble and has sound ball control skills.

Even when drogba was at his best he was still quite raw, outmuscling players and making staggering runs. With what costa did in the last two seasons its not too early to say costa could be as effective as drogba and based on pure talent alone is a more polished striker than drogba. He seems to be the first striker showing the qualities to challenge or attempt to challenge drogba's history. Its quite early but I totally believe in him. He is a lethal impact player like drogba but is less raw and with more flair although with less leadership skills as drogba.
