If he wants to leave for Atletico but can't until January just play him until then. He is still the best striker we have, even when/if Lukaku signs. Its Conte that doesn't want him remember not that Costa doesn't want to stay (he only wants to leave now hes been told hes not part of managers plans). I'm sure Conte wouldn't be stupid enough to make him train with the u21s, like some are suggesting he should do, instead of trying to utilize him at some point because he is still a great player when he wants to be and I think he'd walk into most of our rivals teams except maybe City and Tottenham. I reckon there will be another twist in the tale yet, I am honestly surprised Man United haven't put a bid in for him considering they are also wanting Matic who seems to be out of favour (which selling to them is a huge mistake regardless).

Honestly if Conte and Costa can reconcile that would be ideal at this point. I was in favor of him of leaving when it looked like his sale would have funded his replacement. That is not happening with China out of the picture, and Alti are not paying big for a player that they know will only accept move to them.

Atlético Madrid are close to re-signing Diego Costa, on the express wishes of Diego Simeone, for the 2017-18 season. [AS]

Atlético now have to reach middle ground with #Chelsea, as in Costa's mind, he's already half the way back to being a rojiblanco again. [AS]

Atlético feel the best solution would be for Costa to train with the first team squad for four months until he is eligible to play. [AS]

If Diego is leaving soon, we should be looking back at the sold players under Antonio and remarking on how quickly the problematic players were sold from the squad.
