Adrian Clarke might have a point here...

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/620869/Diego-Costa-Chelsea-transfer-news-exit-claim-Antonio-Conte-Adrian-Clarke

"Costa's made this up, 100 per cent he's made it up," Clarke said on talkSPORT.

"Why would a manager text someone 'you're not in my plans'? I'm not having it, why would a manager do that? You would at least phone them up.

"I just don't buy that that would happen. I'm saying Costa wants to leave and he is just trying to accelerate the process, manufacture, accelerate, however way you want to say it.

"The problem for him is Atletico Madrid are not allowed to sign players and he wants to go to Atletico Madrid.

"He wants to now let everyone else know 'I'm available, I want to go'."

Costa: 'My relationship with the coach has been bad this season.'

My take on this is that according to Costa they didn't get along since the first minute, not much to do with january. Personally i think this narrative that Costa had been so poor in the second half of the season seems a bit too stretched. The numbers in goals regressed, but overall he was the focal point and allowing others to do their thing. Reminds me of how Big Benz is about business. Matic had some great games too, i wouldn't call his overall impact as you've mentioned: 'proper shitty job'.

If you look long enough, you can find a stick with whom you can beat anyone, meaning: not long ago Terry went to the media and started a public outcry of why he didn't get a new contract. I respect John Terry and what he's done for club and country, but when it fits his case, he'll do anything, similar to Costa. This time around it was best for him to keep his mouth shut -he's finished, so he happily played along.

For Conte it could've been over for a long time, but if you part ways, it should be done in person. You can spin it how you want, text massage is highly unprofessionell and that's lacking courage and balls for me. I appreciate how Conte acts like a hard man on the sidelines, but you've gotta live up to it behind closed doors.

What i agree with you on is that's a two way street. The inside knowledge is limited, most of us -me included don't know the full story yet. It's speculation, but because i think Costa speaks from heart and doesn't come across as someone who knows how to play his cards, someone like Fabregas, so far i'm valueing his words higher.

Allowing others to do which thing ? As far as I remember, he was mainly destroying others initiatives to do something, Costa lost the least amount of technique he had when he first came, at one point this season, he was truely embarrassing but Conte had no other options. Matic had some great games, and was for the major part of the season, observing how others will actually score past us, defensively he was very poor, I dont have stats or so to help my argument, but If you watched all the games, it doesnt take an incredible amount of football geniuses to identify how useless he was on the back, especially when you see how helpful Kante was to our defence, there is such a glaring lack of interest in actually do some proper defending from the serbian, he did a good covering space but thats it, he was our worst player this season and fairly deserved the bench, Fabregas got 11 assist while barely playing full 90 min, and for me, its enough to actually be the starter.

I believe Conte doesnt act, I think he is as hard with himself as with everyone, but again, I'm assuming.

Conte sent a goodwill message to all his players wishing them a happy time with their families and reminding them to stay in shape. [Mail]

Costa fired off a reply, enough to irritate Conte who sent back the text which left him in no doubt that he wasn’t part of his plans. [Mail]

The text exchange was reported to the club by Costa who received a message from Granovskaia telling him to leave negotiations to her. [Mail]

I think it's all bollocks just a way for Costa to upset every one enough so that he will deffo be sold he's an absolute Muppet in my eyes and I hope he goes club will be much better off without that tit causing problems behind the scenes

What an absolute wankstain.

I know his goals were crucial to our title win, but bloody hell this is ridiculous! Who in the hell does he think he is?!

Get rid. Bring in someone who actually wants to be here.

You've got to be kidding me. Embarrassing? You know what's really embarrassing? You're basically okay with Diego holding the club at ransom... he clearly doesn't want to be here, why do you continue to defend him like this?

FYI, Diego hasn't been that good in big games since 14/15. Stop acting like he's amazing in them.

Thing is...we've made allowances for contributing players before...

Drogba has thrown tantrums,..after Mourinho left.., when Phil was here and not to mention the red card in the CL final..

We stuck with him and see where that got us...

If Conte sees someone better than Costa coming in to do a better job, then that's fine....but otherwise, I think the club bosses should just bite their lips and do everything in their power to hold onto him.

Its not just a case of a player leaving. Costa gets along superbly well with his team-mates, the Spanish/Brazilian contingent, and not to mention Hazard. Granted it was a low blow to make this public, but I don't know how this would affect the team chemistry when they learn of this revelation... I think this situation could have been handled more carefully by the player and his bosses. All said and done, Costa's season is FAR from bad as a player. 20 goals, a lot of them really crucial to our points tally, and earned us our PL title, and nearly got us back in to the FA cup final.

If Conte's idea of replacement is just Lukaku, I will be extremely worried going ahead into the new season.

Are you kidding? Are you high? Did you just absolutele turn a blind eye into what has been posted in this thread? Are you telling the club to just suck it after a player shove a middle finger into their face in a worst possible way? What if he decides to get a red card every game instead of continue to play for us if we keep him? What? What?

I'm seriously question your logic.
