Nemanja Matic

Tomo was right, the David Luiz-Torres deals were the worst bits of business any club has done in the history of january transfer windows. But then again, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Why is the David Luiz deal bad when he's clearly increased his value since he has joined us?

Torres yes, Luiz no. If we wanted to sell Luiz he'd go for more than we got him for.

And again before you say it, there is no way Matic would've made it if he stayed here.

Just an excuse to undercut Luiz' value in the market and in our team

If it is true that he loves the club and realy wants to prove himself here, we will get superb midfielder and amazing person who will always give 100% to the club.

Dont want to say it too early, but Welcome back Matic :blue scalf:

This is the crucial point...

Matic would not be the same as he is now had he not left us when he did. Matic then and Matic now should be regarded as completely different entities as they are completely different players.

Luiz is in the same position as Mata in this squad now, the only reason he's been playing recently is due to Lampard's injury. He's worth £25m tops and that's IF the Barca rumours were true, so no he hasn't increased his value all that much. As a club we would have only benefitted long term with that January 2011 transfer window from never happening at all really.

It doesn't make it 'all worth it' though, especially when you consider we threw everything but the kitchen sink to sign Modric.

Exactly, its like saying Fabregas before Arsenal and after it was same player. Obviously there is no comparison between Matic 3 years ago and now. We sold him for 2 mio because he was worth that much and now we bought him for 20 because he is worth that much. And I dont feel bad with this signing, club didnt put faith in him back then, but if we kept him, he would now be playing in Championship, instead he developed his skills greatly and it was infact good decision by the board. If you take a look at him as another player, he is fantastic and easily worth what we paid for him, especialy in this crazy market. Any other DM would cost same or even more. In no way, this is a bad deal. He will improve our team and thats all what matters.

I don't think you'd find many people who would think Luiz is worth any less than £30 million in the current market.

So what you are saying is we are good at spotting potential stars and buying them . but absolutely shit at developing them . When I have criticised our academy and the reserve coaches I have been slaughtered on here

have been laughed at .

Who would sign Luiz?, bar the aforementioned club who were 'rumoured' to want him.

He's in the exact same position as Mata under Mourinho.

Still, even if we do go by your valuation, £25m is still a nice price, so the deal is nowhere near as bad as you're trying to make it seem.

Torres on the other hand... I'd bite your hand off if you offered £10-15m for him. Now that's what you call a bad deal. He's not even worth half of what we paid for him. Call Luiz's average if you want but to say it's one of the worst deals ever done is ridiculous.

Yeah, Luiz has slightly regressed this season but before that he was steadily improving and he still has enough time to turn it around in the second half of this season. There's still plenty of games to go.

Bayern is the latest rumor. They'd want to pair him with Dante.

Man City, United, Barcelona, Bayern just to mention a few clubs. If Luiz regained form he'd walk into those teams in my honest opinion.
