petre.ispirescu 4,928
Reckon it's going to be one new important arrival before Burnley, then I think two more players (maybe three if we are lucky) in the last days of the market, to complete the squad, a la Marcos Alonso last summer. Not top players, but decent, to play a rotation role.

Sir Mikel OBE 4,531
I am not worried about him doing well too much. I am, however, worried about this being the catalyst to release Pogba as a pure attacking beast in the mold of Toure. He already was getting there last year. Mourinho is about make it very easy for him.

Blue Colored Sky 1,799
Always a bit sad to see a player who was part of winning team go, but honestly I'm least bothered I can be. He has no charisma whatsoever and last few months was a struggle to watch him. His current version is the player we do not want to have in the squad anymore. We'll always have his first half a year here when he was a beast, a City performance, a few dozens of awesome games in 14/15, decent showing in last year campaign with cherry pick on the top, that goal against Spurs. Thanks for that. He has become a joy killer lately and he killed momentum of so many attacks. As a squad player, yeah he can stay, but for that money we have option to sign more complete player. BTW His and Jose statement on official Man Utd website looks incredible hilarious like a text randomly generated in Fifa/FM Career mode, I can tell that none of them have nothing to do with this whatsoever. Ha ha. Can't think of scenario we won't sign a midfielder now.
Pizy 16,005
Both Manchester clubs now have excellent depth in midfield. United have Pogba, Herrera, Matic, Fellaini, Carrick, and Fosu Mensa to choose from in the middle of the pitch. We have Kante, a Fabregas who will unfortunately struggle against good sides, and Bakayoko who's injured. Surely, surely the ONLY way we'd have let Matic go today is because something is done and dusted. Unbelievably stupid by the club otherwise and I refuse to believe that they're stupid enough to not have this already planned out.

But in all seriousness we HAVE too surely have a player lined up, but the only midfielder we have been linked with for while is sances and apparently now he's definitely staying a BM, so am stumped. Johnnyeye 6,859
Thank you for everything Matic, wish you all the best in the future and goodluck, once a blue always a blue. Cheers and KTBFFH
Special Juan 26,204
Chelsea can confirm along with Matic leaving, he has also been joined by The Wiz....Matic is said to be delighted with this.

oldportblue 537
so he's basically leaving because we brought in bakayoko? If so, good riddance, don't need players with such weak fighting spirit... let's bring in a quality CM and we'll be good in midfield
xPetrCechx 13,335
Matic played 2694 mins in the PL last season, we've sold him to a direct rival, and absolutely nobody cares. That speaks volumes.
Popular Post petre.ispirescu 4,928
Mancs getting excited over this lol. Truth is his first season here was very good, but he's declined so much after that, instead of raising his game. Good player to have against lesser sides, but looking forward to seeing United play the big dogs in PL and Champions League nights with that midfield. Pogba can't track back and tackle for his life. Pressure is going to be on Matic and Herrera to do the dirty work and frankly this is the only thing they are good at. Any decent midfield will run this United team over. Matic was good for Chelsea against lesser sides, but I can't remember any big game past his 1st season here where he was of any use. Every single decent midfield pair we've faced with Matic in the middle of the park was a shit show. He even looked like a crippled Lee Cattermole against a Ramsey - Xhaka pair in the FA Cup Final. Bottom line is Matic will provide the protection they need in some games, but against the big teams a midfield pair of Matic and Herrera is going to be fun to watch. I'd have tried hard for Spurs' Dembele if I was Mourinho and ready to spend silly money on 30 year olds. At least Dembele is different class from Matic. Already 30 but who cares. Matic will be 30 in a year too. And certainly not going to get better. Great money for a 29 yo going into his final year of his contract next summer. We've already brought his replacement in a better player, Bakayoko. Now time to bring in at least two back-up central midfielders of decent quality.
Popular Post Special Juan 26,204
It's great money, but it's only great money if we spend it in the right area and player.
oldportblue 537
says it all really. unless he has a miraculous upturn of form, we made the right decision to sell him... (still would have much preferred that we sell him abroad, as opposed to helping the annoying mourinho but what can you do) stats from BBC, reposted on reddit
RoyalBlues 4,050
Good move if we spend the money to sign another CM. What a bad move, if we don't sign any other CM.
