The type of people that end up following a team because of the brand exposure aren't the type of people I want to associate with.

Fair enough but we go on so much about 'big clubs' and what the benchmark ought to be, some fans do take interest in that. And yes the football side is clearly the most important thing, but there's more to a football club than that now. Associating with just giants in their own respective industries only does well to represent the Chelsea brand globally. The bigger we want to become, and thus keep achieving better by enticing world-class players, the more we want our reputation to enhance.

And again, not saying just because we sign with Nike we'll sign Messi tomorrow (there's always one..) but its something to think about. You shake hands with the right people and they shake hands with better people..

Juan Mata personally delivers the new kit to a fan who pre-ordered the kit - afterall, it's Blue, what else Matas?

I know all the positives and whatnot behind it. I'm a selfish man, I'd rather look at a nice kit from Umbro or Le Coq other a template from Nike cuz that is what a club gets from 'em.

That's fair too and of course we shouldn't be taken for mugs either, which is why breaking our contract early with Adidas isn't an issue most fans will be cursing. After this disaster of a kit with a lack of any real PR is simply embarrassing when you're meant to be one of your brand's highest rated teams. Albeit we're only really behind United & Bayern in their standings, which is a byproduct of them being far more established than we've been.

I thought the kit looks good on the players. The lion prints are subtle, nice blue, white collar and love the 3 stripes down the side, very streamlined.

Meanwhile, Bayern, Real and Juve get this...

Totally legit decision by the club, you can easily see the importance they give to other clubs.

It has always been like that. Before they were with adidas.

Its also surprising how people are upset that 30m was so low. Only three clubs have better contract; United because they are global giant, Bayern also giant, but also german like adidas, and Real another giant. Barca has 28m year, Juve has up to 30m with bonuses, Psg 20m, City 15m. It has to be said Barca is about to renew with Nike rumoured worth up to 80m. Regardless, we were still pretty much on top. However, we have only ourselves to blame for accepting 10 year contract with no chance of renegotiating unlike other clubs. Our brilliant board strikes again.

Seriously who the fuck is in charge of these things in our club?!?

I can't believe some people think the board just terminated Adidas deal because they were upset with the money are now are in the market demanding more. That just doesn't make any sense. Its obvious we received a huge offer from another brand.

And most likely the new sponsor is going to pay the penal sum for us.

How much do we have to payout Adidas now that we have voided the contract?

I feel Under Armour may be the path we will go as Chelsea have a large fan base in North America.

the path to go is to the kit manufacture who has offered the best deal for us to part company with Adidas

It looks as if the club tried to renegotiate with Adidas once the fantastic shirt sales figures were coming in and an offer from another manufacture in the offing, but Adidas not willing to play or pay

with over 3m shirts allegedly sold last season and the kit manufacture getting between £12-£15 profit per shirt, we are a good brand to be associated with.

The shirts sold covers the sponsership deal with ease...........then there is all the branded sports and fashion clothing on top of that which allegedly have higher percentage profitability returns for the manufacture.

No wonder, another kit deal was always going to be hanging around with those sort of figures.

P.S. Chelsea only get sponsorship money and profits from shirts/fashion/sportswear sold on their website or club shop

Strangely no inside info this time, can't wait to reveal the new sponsor. I quite like Under Armor personally, not to mention the bonus to piss of Spuds.

Why would it piss off Spurs?, Nike want them.. the most iconic and culture defining brand in european football along with adidas.

Only small clubs are outside the Nike/Adidas bubble.

Because if we get UA our deal must be bigger than what UA has offered Spuds, no?

1. Our new kits : IMO material looks nice and silky. It's ideal shade of blue, a little darker, I love it. The font looks nice too for what it is worth. And those embedded lions are not so visible outside fully set photographic studio with thousands of lumens on it. It looks perfect on that pictures with Diego Costa, material looks really cool, similar to Roma shirts. When it's wet it's even better. And goalkeepers shirt has great colour. Overall it's very good IMO.

2. New kit sponsor : great shout @WHS. Chelsea have the second biggest shirt sponsorship deal in the market, very close to Man Utd and after Man Utd signed a new kit deal with Adidas, I'm sure Chelsea and other clubs started to ask questions about it. Chelsea will surely bridge that gap as well. They are doing an excellent job on marketing end.

Though it's a shame because I'm fanboy of Adidas since I was very little and had my first collection book.

You Europeans don't know this because yourselves live in your Nike/Adidas bubble but in the United States; Under Armor is one of if not the biggest growing sportswear company. I promise you, go to any sports store in America and you'll find stacks of Nike, Adidas and Under Armor. You lot really, really underestimate that company. A company doesn't endorse the most talented American footballer and basketballer  and the biggest hitter in baseball by accident. Those players being Tom Brady, Steph Curry, and Bryce Harper respectively. It even has it's fingers in two a the largest market NA sports teams Chicago Cubs and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

UA are killing it and are only on the rise.

Thanks for the info Spike.

I confess that I couldn't care less about which sportswear company produces our kit as long as their deal with CFC gives the club a fair slice of the pie. As it happens, I like the 16/17 design because it's a throwback to the kit the club was wearing the season before I became a fan in that last summer before Sgt. Pepper. I saw the ladies wear it on Saturday and then the lads on Sunday. In neither case was the patterning in the material that some people have complained about noticeable.
