A Chelsea Under-19 side won away in Moscow on Wednesday evening, beating CSKA 1-0.

The match was the club's second in the group stage of the NextGen tournament, a Champions League-style competition for this age group which we have entered for the first time this season.

In the opening home match at the end of August, CSKA came from behind to win 2-1 but the tables were turned today when schoolboy midfielder Jeremie Boga (pictured) scored in the 71st minute to decide the away meeting, played at the October Stadium in the Russian capital.

By that stage CSKA were down to 10 men, Anton Polytkin having been sent off eight minutes into the second half. The numbers were evened up after the Chelsea goal, substitute Jordan Houghton seeing a second yellow card with just over quarter of an hour to go.

Five players who began August's home game were in the starting 11 today - Mitchell Beeney in goal, Alex Davey and Adam Nditi in defence and further upfield, Lewis Baker and centre-forward Patrick Bamford.

Daniel Pappoe started his first game of the season in central defence and there were places for first-year scholar Fankaty Dabo and Boga, who was a half-time substitute in the meeting at Cobham.

The win puts Dermot Drummy's side six points behind CSKA who top of the group, the Russians having played two games more. They had a 100 per cent record until today.

Ajax are level with Chelsea on three point with one game played while Norwegian club Molde have lost all three matches played. Those two clubs face each other tomorrow.

The top two in each of the four groups go through to the knockout stage, as do the four best third-placed sides.

The Chelsea Under-19 side's next game in this competition is away to Molde on 31 October.
