Take goals away from Ronaldo and he's not that good anymore.

All his ridicoulus athletic atributes : pace, agility, stenght, jumping would make him very good player. Add to that close controll and dribbling and he'd still be elite player. Lampard never got technique of Ronaldo nor his atheticism.

Besides Ronaldo is a striker not a midfielder. You'd make list of tens forwards who without goals would be way way worse. Can't say that about too many midfielders.

Still take away the goals and lamps is just not that a special player any more.

Stupid argument IMO. Yeah, maybe if you take away he's goals then he is not a special but just a good/decent player but he actually did scored that goals. He's timing, he's scoring ability etc. was terrific. That 211 goals was not a accident and he is very special player.

I think you've missed the entire point... that's exactly what my point was....

People are underrating Lampard so much on here right now that its getting embarrassing! Lampard is one of the best Chelsea players ever and one of the best midfielders ever (in the league, maybe even the world).

No such a thing is being done.

Lampard was a top player because of his ability to score goals as a midfielder! Goals change games and win matches so obviously he was a special player.

And yes Ronaldo would turn into a quaresma without the goals as skill wise he's nowhere near messi.

The 2 passes v Barca in '12 >

The defence splitting ball for Drogba vs Man City as well w/ the outside of the boot >

So so good

Or those first time ball over the top passes to Drogba. Simple but extremely effective.

No such a thing is being done.

That's the issue right there. Many have become so blinded by Lampard's goals that they can't even see his other qualities. He's really a much more complete midfielder than people give him credit for.

Ronaldo and close control, dribbling used in the same sentence. You must be talking about the original ronaldo because cristiano is just a more athletic and prolific version of bale. Technically very average.

No, I'm talking about him

He has very good technique. But because his style of play turned to predator, he's seen as a poacher with freak physique. It's not true.

It's possible for a player to have good technique in regards to certain aspect of football such as shooting, heading etc without having close control or been particularly good/great at dribbling. Even in his united days where he was more exciting, he has never been known to have close control and good dribbling (unless you consider balesqe running with the ball and thousand step overs which are often pointless) as part of dribbling which many don't.

To use those two particular skillset as an attempt to highlight cr10's strenghts is about as accurate as claiming iniesta has excellent shooting technique and a clinical finisher.

Regarding Oscar, imo he is a very tidy player. Not the most technically gifted, defensively brilliant and his movement is pretty good. It is unfair to expect him to suddenly turn into an ozil/silva type player who is just much more gifted technically.

The problem is not oscar but for some reason out of our 3 attacking midfielder, we can only expect hazard one to produce something offensively. I am still not sure is this personnel problem or tactical problem. Is it because they are asked to work so hard defensively that they cannot attack or they are just inherently not that kind of player. We have use schurlle, cuardado, willian , and oscar in these positions and none of them can produce consistent end product.
