Fisk can be 'erratic' to say the least, but he sometimes absolutely nails it. This is one of those times (regarding Syria and Aleppo): http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/aleppo-siege-syria-assad-isis-srebrenica-kosovo-robert-fisk-west-won-t-go-to-war-a7171466.html

Just watched Corbyn v Smith hustings.

While Corbyn was fighting in Parliament against the Iraq war, Smith couldn’t make up his mind. While Jeremy Corbyn was fighting in Parliament to save the NHS from privatisation, Smith was pushing it from the other side of the corporate fence. While Jeremy Corbyn presented uncompromising opposition to austerity during the last Parliament, Smith wondered and wavered aloud whether it might be necessary.

Apart from that Smith comes across as an insincere fraud.

Witness said he was tasered several times, then the police just kept kicking him on the ground - yes ''encounter with the police''

Scored Goal of the Season

I remember that goal; used to be in a lot of adverts for the EPL in the late 90s.

When we played Villa away in 1993 me and my mate (Villa fan from work) couldn't get in the Chelsea end it was packed and there was a massive crush so we thought fuck it lets go in the Holte End. By the time we got in Villa were one up I said to this kid '' Who scored the goal son?'' he said in the thickest Brummie accent I've ever heard Dalian Atkinson. The kid spent the next twenty minutes looking at me knowing full well I was Chelsea but didn't know whether to grass me up or not.

Had a similar experience @1979-80 we lost 2-1 and about 80 of us were escorted out of the Holte along the pitch to the Chels mob :cig:

A civil defense plan to be debated by the cabinet would require citizens to stockpile supplies in case of a catastrophe. The plan says people should prepare for an unlikely event that "could threaten our existence."

http://www.dw.com/en/report-germany-to-require-citizens-to-stockpile-supplies-in-case-of-catastrophe/a-19491176

For the first time since the end of the Cold War, the German government plans to encourage its citizens to prepare for a catastrophe or armed attack by stockpiling food, water and other supplies, the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung" reported on Sunday.

Citing the government's "Concept for Civil Defense" paper to be discussed by the cabinet on Wednesday, the government will require people to stock 10 days worth of food and five days of worth of drinking water.

The civil defense strategy would require citizens to have a sufficient supply of food, water, energy, money and medicine to wait out a period until the state would be able to initiate a response to a catastrophe or attack.

A spokesperson from the interior ministry declined to comment on the contents of the paper until a Wednesday press conference.

Could it be a taxation trick ?
They stockpile those supplies and then the tax collectors go and grab them.
We live in the age of "juntas aprilianas" so that's the first thing that comes to mind.

'Train-Gate'.....I REALLY don't get British politics...

If there's one thing that drives me fucking mad it's the overuse of the suffix gate. When will especially the British media remember that Watergate was a building?. Everytime there is a scandal gate is added on so when we had the blood incident in rugby we get Bloodgate, The worse I've heard is Rodney Marsh saying Kneegate about Harry Redknapp's knee when he left QPR.. But the most ironic thing is when there was a scandal involving a gate they couldn't call it gate gate so settled for Plebgate. If there's a scandal at the baby food company then we can look forward to Cow and Gate Gate.!

Anniversary of Wave Hill, when Aboriginal workers, who were paid less than white settlers went on strike for 9 years. Eventually they won, and also got some land
