None of us know what could happen if campaign finance were changed along with imposed term limits and other restrictions. All we keep is hearing underneath (or above) all the noise is: "no, we cannot change beyond the status quo." And, unless you're confused about what the status quo is, it's still Reaganomics in the Age of Big Business and global neo-liberalism, welfare for the rich, rugged individualism for the poor (call it all the "20th century Petrol Jeezus Economy of Worshipping Money and the Rich (and false hopes)."

My suggestion is stop passively accepting what we are told is "pragmatic" and "possible," and metaphorically get off your knees, join with fellow working people regardless of race, and demand a better standard of living without fear of the Other or taboos like.... ohhhhhh, >socialism<.

I like this quote from the back of the latest Ferguson book: "My job was to make everyone understand that the impossible was possible.  That's the difference between leadership and management."

Passive consumerism and more "management" of the neo-liberal status quo will only result in more stagnating and falling wages, with the majority having little or zero capital ownership.

I'll leave it with this:

The new metacommunist economic system is the product of an unholy matrimony between marxism and Mussolini's fascism.
Only big corporations and nothing else. This differs from the stalinist model in which all the landowners / factory owners are arrested and executed. But in what regards the jew-hunting against private enterprise it is exactly the same.
When Stalin conquered the Baltics in 1939 he proceeded to rob the 90 year old grannies from the few coins they had from social security and left them with nothing. It's the same now with the elitist metacommunist system.
The right wing rejoice but the left wing also rejoice (mainly the idle do-nothing layabout state employees).
It resembles the Hitler regime, which was a populist cult really with some quasi-socialist ideas but with capitalists at the head of affairs (Krupp-Opel etc). But in Hitler's time it was not practical to have a capitalist system and at the same time turn against the small to medium sized businesses (unless they were Jewish of course ...). So we don't know what Hitler might have said about his great grand children. Possibly pat them in the back.
We talk about millions and millions of new unemployed as a result of the abolition of the "small shop in the corner". This of course spells war and rebellion ultimately, but the metacommunists are not even thinking about taking a step back.

Great video that further proves that it isn't as simple as the frothing morons would have you believe. There are activists out there that use the 'pay gap' as an argument when they don't even understand the complex dynamics of it. There are so many variables it is absolutely mind numbing, nice find on the vid N.

For example, an entry-level fry cook at MacDonalds is always going to urn the same wage, no matter the gender. It might change on state and location but if you, myself and two other women were working the frying machines and held the same 'position' at the establishment I'd wager that we'd all earn exactly minimum wage.

Vlog Brothers rarely disappoint :)

But exactly right, the bias is individuals not policies, so it would interesting to see it can be combated. The unpaid work that John in the video mentions is something worth looking at.

Their crashcourse channel is amazing

Yeah, crash course is how I actually got introduced to Vlog Brothers. Their earlier stuff is at crash course is particularly good. I don't necessarily like that they are getting other people to do the newer stuff. Their economics series in particular has been sub par, imo.

Donald Trump to ban Pelé over Zika virus fears

Donald J Trump is seeking to ban Brazilian football legend Pelé from entering the USA over fears he might be carrying the Zika virus.

Trump insists the ban is necessary while his people figure out ‘just what the hell is going on’ with this Brazilian Muslim-mosquito thing.

The staunch right-winger became suspicious of Pelé’s intentions after the Brazilian failed to use his smallish head once during an impressive display of keepy-uppy.

And officials suspect Pelé’s infection could date back to 1970 after an uncharacteristic challenge on Gordon Banks.

Trump campaign virologists claim symptoms of the Zika virus range from enjoying noisy street carnivals to being very good at football in an effortless way.

Trump’s original plan to build a wall to exclude all foreign mosquitos floundered after it was pointed out that mosquitoes can fly over them.

The Republican nominee has also threatened to exclude other members of the 1970 World Cup winning squad such as Jairzinho and Rivellino on the grounds that “mosquitos don’t show up so well against dark skin.”

The proposed ban comes after the first confirmed case of sexual transmission of the virus between fellow Americans.

Despite the growing crisis, health expert Simon Williams claims Brazilians are still far more likely to die on the London Underground at the hands of the Metropolitan Police.

Meanwhile, fashion conscious American women have been advised that there is no risk of contracting the virus from ‘having a Brazilian’.

So the UN have officially ruled (expected to formally come out tomorrow) that the UK is breaking the law in arbitrarily detaining Julian Assange.

UK's expected response? To break international law and to continue to detain him in the Ecuadorian embassy...

It's quite incredible. The British government has spent almost 13.8 MILLION pounds on this siege and no one says a word, but let in a few hundred refugees and the whole nation erupts in protest about wasting their tax money on them....

It was probably worse with Snowden. The US actually tried to hijack Bolivia's presidential plane!

Not only was that an act of piracy, but under international law an act of aggression against all of Bolivia.

Radio One Lebanon? Cringe worthy stuff. I'd cheer ISIS on if they did, tbh....

But we don't have ISIS in Lebanon. Just Al Qaeda 'light' :D

Yeah that Trump vs Hilary going to be comedy gold.

And you know what? A lot of people are truly wanting Trump because they believe this guy will do what he said.

I personally like Cruz because he's Christian but he ain't winning against Trump. Trump got everything going for him.

Trump and his "make America great again" could actually win the Republican nomination. He's has Teflon protection from any controversy he starts lol.

We'll see how he holds out now most of the conservatives will back Marco Rubio. The gap in his wins should start shrinking.

I want a Republican to win but I'm not sure I want Trump. But I'll choose Trump over any Democrat anytime, anywhere.

I heard the mayor of London wants England to leave the EU. That's a game changer if he's giving it his all,  it'll be interesting to see the commotion caused by this lol ?
