I'd like to see them work on his speed and agility some. Right now he reminds me of a Frank Bruno.

Think I'd have liked to see him go out on loan to a Champ/PL side. Yes hes been great with the academy but we must admit that not all teams academys are at our standard. You compare some of them and its obvious we come up against some that just look like children. You want to put RLC into our 1st team to play world class players. Its a bloomin big step.

Loans are really poor development tools. In truth they're more often used to put a player in the shop window than actually getting them ready for first team football. Mourinho is a good enough manager and Chelsea have a strong enough squad to take risks by developing players in the first team. A cowardice in this regard has plagued Chelsea managers since Ancelotti, and I can only assume that it comes from pressure from up high.

My two cents on RLC;

1.) if he goes on loan to vitesse, we can forget him.

2.) if Mou converts him into DM, without much freedom, he will become Mikel 2.0.

Hopefuly those two things wont happen.

Vitesse would of been perfect, really don't think he's at the level to be a regular here, he needs minutes and playing every week in the Dutch league, where their is an emphasis on technique and playing a specific way with the ball would of been good for him. Think we could regret this if he doesn't live up to a certain standard. 10 mins in games we are comfortable, cup ties against piss poor teams and U21s fixtures isn't going to challenge him or bring him on any further in his career.

How is #10 best for him? He's very poor under pressure. He can't really work in tight areas. We saw this in the post-season games where he just sort of ran into people and lost the ball, rather than maneuver in the space.

His best attribute has always been running with the ball. That comes from playing in midfield. Yeah, it takes maturity to play in midfield, but we have Matic.

Remember how dominant a Matic-Luiz midfield was? Matic did all the right things, and Luiz took the risks. Matic is an immense player and anyone beside him will not be exposed if they make mistakes. He's a big reason why Cesc has done better than expected at CM. Dude is a machine.

If Jose actually plays RLC, it will be in midfield. As a #10, RLC lacks immensely in technical ability.

Yes Josh McEachran says hello but so does Thibaut Courtois, Kurt Zouma, Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, Thorgan Hazard... I know some of these guys don't play here now but they all improved out on loan, definitely. If Ruben is as good a talent people say and willing to work hard then he would be best going on loan playing every week and improving as opposed to playing 10 games a year.

i dont get the hype. played as a 10 and could not hold onto the ball if his life depended on it. every game, he has been disappointing. just seems so average.

I think our other youth midfielders are better than him. People keep saying how good he played for us in the last matches of the season and had 100% passing accuracy in one game but i didn't see any reason why he should get into our team, his passing were only short passes which were producing nothing and he wasn't either great in defending.
