Popular Post Henrique 9,074
Cahill should be happy to be playing for a club like Chelsea at this point of his career. I don't understand why average players leave top clubs because they feel they are not playing as much as they should. Think about Ferreira and Mikel that stayed as Chelsea players despite of being no more than squad players for most part of their club careers.
Hybrid Angel 2,130
No disrespect, but how is he still playing for us? With the amount of childish mistakes he makes and overall how poor he is defensively he would have difficulty finding a starting spot in a lot of teams in the league. Chelsea can and should do better than him as a back-up option.

Not many national teams would consistently select squad players - Nigeria and Portugal are small enough that they do, but England would be a bit more reluctant in doing so, esp CB. I completely understand he doesn't want to lose his NT spot, but on the same token cannot understand why he's there to be begin with.
mccg 1,528
Dont know how much truth in this 1,but not much of the dumbass media has mentioned he had a injury a while back and missed afew games?! We need another world class CB&CM not sell,so for me Cahill stays and we strengthen not weaken areas were we are shy ffs this Cfc board are cfucking clueless

Leif 6,006
This is like when a guy pretends to break up with his girlfriend to see how much she really cares, to then find out she doesn't actually give a shit, and the breakup turns real. You'll be downgrading Gary.
mccg 1,528
It makes no sense at all to be thinking of getting "rid" of Cahill, we only really have Cahill,Terry,Zouma,Ivan ffs,as our CB's ,and a lack of home growns makes him even more invaluable to the squad, don't worry he will get enough games 4 sure!
King11Didier 916
I can understand him in demanding more playing time. With Euro 16 knocking on the door and with the competition for the CB's spot in the England team the best for him would be to play almost every match. Something which he finds hard here. The problem is that we cannot let him leave as we are still in CL and FA. We can't have only young Zouma and old Terry till the end of the season. What will make sense to me will be to buy or loan new RB, put Ivanovic in Cahill's role and loan Gary till the end of the season. Thats maybe a win-win situation for both Gary and the club. Cahill might have lost his place but it is vital we keep him on board. The obsession with age is beyond me. JT knows exactly how to handle being slow (he's done it for the last 16 years) so I think it's nearly irrelevant now.

Well you have another thing coming if you think Terry will not get worse with age and can carry playing every game next season because he can't. This season he had made a lot more mistakes albeit he has been more solid in recent games. Also Cahill is English as well so vital we keep him and still good to have as a squad player. Yeah but squad players all he should be, I can't believe it's only Hiddink out of all the managers he's had here has got the memo.

To a point, I beg to differ. Cahill is not an intelligent CB and therefore will not age well at all - he's slow now and he's seen as average. In my opinion he will not be playing at the top level within two years. I'd take JT every day of the week. Also, JT's marshalling makes Zouma look much better in my opinion, and conversely Zz's pace makes JT look much better. In the short term our CB situation is fine. Just wait for Christensen to be refined a little more and bring him back when Terry finally reaches EOL.

Well I don't think he is world class but I am actually a big fan of his although I do reckon he has the odd error prone in him, I never get the panic feeling when he is in our team. I hope and assume we get a CB in the summer but I hope Cahill is here because I feel he is a useful player for the squad. I think a lot of big teams would take him, albeit a squad player role but I still think he has a lot of qualities. 3 hours ago, CurlyHairLikeLuiz said: To a point, I beg to differ. Because I think he reads the game quite well and for a CB he is not very slow, not very fast. He is in between. Yeah, you are right about Zouma. He probably is better with Terry in the team and that is because Terry is a better leader and organiser. However Zouma and Cahill did well against Arsenal tbh. And FWIW I am quite positive that Cahill will be here for the next few years.
Jase 43,476
Hiddink on Cahill... http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/chelsea-press-conference-live-alexandre-10807724 “I talked to him a few days ago about the situation, which I like to do always with key players. “He’s of big importance and will be.” “He was very open and very clear he wants to stay in this club. “He’s very happy here but of course not playing gives a bit of frustration. “There was no hint from his side that he could leave.”

cfcs most wanted 657
I don't understand the obvious hate against Cahill. he has been a top defender for us, He and Jt make Chelsea a rock solid foundation. About his mistakes, i haven't seen him make that many and he also has to deal with that intelligent guy at rb
