I guess he isn't clumsy, most of his errors are in the beginning of the matches. When the team is already at advantage he is more calm. He is trying to be always at first squad, then, many times he overstate in his willpower and commit some childish mistakes. I guess the time will be enough to bring him this patience and coldness.

I was joking w/ you, cause you know Palmieras can't beat Corinthians, so your lot are Fla fans now ;)

That's true! lol

clumpsy naaahhh... erratic hell yeah.... out of 10 things that this guy does 5 are like normal, 3 are out of the world (in which every chelsea fan goes wooohoooo) and 2 are in which chelsea fans "go booohhhooo, did he really do that"...

i think he just cant help himself from makin such stupid decisions... and for people who think that he has improved since last season (on terms of his "clumsiness"), i ll say that last season he started almost every match since feb to may but this season he has not got any playin time at all and still is kinda responsible for a loss already and 3 points already...

The pen he gave away was soft as anything, should never have been given. How there can be any negativity towards Luiz after yesterday is suprising to me, he was determined to give every single ounce of energy to get us back into that game. I thought he was great. Carvalho played with a similar style and had a tendancy to be a little rash but i don't remember the same level of questioning towards him.

Exactly Carvalho was just as ''rash'' as what David Luiz is now at the age of 30. He never got any questions asked of him because we were winning titles.

Guys open your eyes here - Luiz is a liability at centre half at the moment...he is gonna cost us numerous points away from home....

I like him as a player but he has to either be pushed into centre midfield or our coaching staff need to teach him to just stand players up - it is not difficult. He has pace, he has technical ability, he has two feet and can head, pass and shoot. He could be the best defener in the world is he can just use his brain.....

Cavalho was a clever defender who was very subtle in his fouling...

His inexperience shines through, sadly. Rash tackles & misjudgements in the final third are leaving us with more problems than we should have.

Can't fault his heart and his drive at all. The only reason we haven't been more harsh is because of those wild, positive & usually successful bursts he makes from the back to their own third. For example yesterday, he made a run from the back, played Anelka in (who should've shot first time) and then made himself available to bicycle kick that same ball!

Though I don't doubt he'll fix up soon, because he does have that potential, I am also being swayed towards the view he could be a more efficient DMF. This position would allow him to make more of those runs & not have to worry about being the last man back.

He won't work further forward on the pitch im sorry.

How many Defenders that are good going forward, get moved up the pitch on the assumption everything will naturally fall into place but turn's out to be a disaster? Danny Alves prime example.

But if he stays at centre half he will cost us more goals than he creates...its frustrating because he can defend properly when he wants to - this is a good test of AVB's management here. He needs to get Luiz to stand the attacker up and not dive in...dont give the attacker the chance to go down.....

Our best defensive displays this season has been with him on the pitch.

He has won us 3 big games that were heading almost certainly for dropped points (United, Levekusen and City) he might make a few rash decision's but the likes of Vidic are a lot worse in that respect (if Vidic played for any one else bar United he would see red 10 times a season at least).

He also has more interceptions than any other prem player since the start of last season, also take into account that he did not even play for 6 months of that period aswell.

Also Alex has made some horrendus mistakes this season and last (miscontrol that let Shane Long in, bad touch that led to Newcastle's free kick leveller end of last season, penalty and red card against Fulham, given a torrid time by Beckford off all players at Goodison, the 2 mistakes in as many games against Newcastle and Brum which gave Carroll and Bowyer tap ins) yet he doesn't seem to get any stick for them but had Luiz made those errors the field day would be pathetic.

Lets not forget the horrendus amount of free kicks Carvalho use to give away in dangerous areas (IE at the COMS 2 years in a row which let Robinho then Tevez score), or in the CL final just after United's goal he lost the ball near the corner flag and United counter attacked with him took out of the game.

Sorry but i jut don't buy this clumsy thing, the way people bang on you would think he is the only centre half in the history of football to give away a penalty.

Some players are just like this naturally, i don't think it can be completely coached out of him, Carvalho had it right the way through his career and we let it slide because he gave us so much in other area's. Ivanovic will be out paced by certain strikers like when he was burnt by Eto'o, Terry also has his flaws. David Luiz has pace to burn he is technically one of the best in the league he is also good in the air. This is just one of his flaws and it cant be coached out of him but it can be controlled to a certain extent but i would rather have David Luiz in my team then not put it that way.

For all those who say luiz could be a good DM....

I think his forward runs have made people think that he'd make a great midfielder by default, but I disagree after seeing Phil jones performance against scousers because in my opinion, the thing that allows him to make those runs out of defence is that as soon as he steps out of defence, he gives us a man advantage in the opposition half. That's because the striker isn't going to track back and follow him all the way back. That means that he is given a free run in the opposition half as confusion arises among the defending team and nobody knows who's supposed to pick him up and track the run.

When he plays in midfield he's going to be up against an opposing midfielder who will mark and track him, and therefore his surging runs will be much tougher to pull off when he plays in midfield and has a man on him all the time.

He is not clumsy, he is an elegant footballer. He is rash - for the 3 examples of the above, I can think of 3 he has given away due to diving in - the Man U goal at OT, pen v Fulham, pen v QPR......there was a stage last season where he was defending properly, but this year he has gone all out. To be fair to him maybe AVB has said that is how he wants him to play though.....

and because Luiz is brazilian.

It's not the fact that he is Brazilian its more to do with English football fans love kicking a man when he is down, they build players up then they knock them down. If they had Messi in their national team they would find a way to dismantle his confidence, they fucking abused Lampard right the way through his career. English football fans mentality Henrique !
