This is a popular opinion but I don't share it. The weakness in Ruben's game is exactly the same now as it was in 2012/13 when I started posting about it. (Elsewhere.) I find that injuries are often just a convenient excuse.

That is totally unfair under Sarri his stamina and work rate had improved massively, he was actually trusted as a CM because of it. The goal scoring might have been a purple patch but his overall game and stamina had improved massively. He wasn't just walking around on the pitch like he used to do previously.

Talks now of us in negotiations with Lutauro Martinez agent..

Maybe Haaland is too big of a task

That sounds like agent talk, Martinez was linked to Atletico this week but they refused to meet Inter's asking price so now Inter trying to create bidding war that's non existent

  3. My biggest concern is the Bundesliga tax, I don't trust players coming from Germany so I wouldn't spend that much on him for sure. Look at all the big name strikers/wingers who have been disappointing after their big money move from the Bundesliga. Jovic, Dembele, Werner, Haller just to name a few. Even Michy looked like a world beater at Dortmund. I think we should keep on with the Werner, Havertz experiment surely mean regression means they will put away more of their chances next season? I would rather we focus on a DM, CB and maybe Hakimi as our star signing.

  4. If we apply Bundesliga tax on Haaland's goals are we sure he is worth 100 million? Werner scored 27 goals in the Bundesliga same as Harvetz and we saw what happened last season.

Well I suppose all the fans who voted him POTY are wrong then? When hes probably been our most vital player under Tuchel... if you like him or not, the difference with him and without is huge.

Not really, we played better in games he has not played. Twice against City for example

So err, can we talk about Pulisic? Is the real Pulisic gonna turn up in the Champions League next week?

I know he's not our only inconsistent attacker right now but what exactly is going on with him? Just about a month ago, he looked like he was getting back to the form he showed last season but apart from the Real Madrid games, everything just went up in smoke and he has been largely ineffective in a lot of the recent games. He's not taking players on, he's not playing with the same self swagger and decisiveness that he displayed last season. I sometimes wonder whether his individualistic style of play can feel at odd with the rest of the team.

Also, I notice that Pulisic gets similar treatment to Mount. When he plays and plays poorly, no one really says anything (compared to others) but when he doesn't play, people will be complaining that he should have started etc and then you have the American fans as well as the media making a fuss over his selection from across the pond.

He is better off the bench when teams have tired legs, lets hope he does not start on Saturday.

7 of his 15 goals last came in the first 5 league games. After that, it's 8 in 29 outings.

I dont think the striker is the main problem at the moment, not having goal scoring wingers is absolutely killing us. In 2010 we had Malouda, Anelka, Joe Cole, Kalou. In 2015 Schurrle, Oscar, Hazard. In 2017 we had Pedro, Willian, Hazard all helping with the goal scoring.

  8. We honestly could do no worse than bringing Eden back to the bridge, at least with Hazard we know he takes his chances. Better sign the player we know rather than some exotic name that will come here and flop.

Our biggest problem is actually the players behind the striker, Pulisic, Mount, Ziyech, Havertz have been shit.  I honestly prefer the days we gave the ball to Hazard to do something, at least we seemed to score goals. In fact I would bring Eden home if we are given the chance to sign him

Our defence has been OK without him. 3 of the last 5 goals we conceded came from either Jorginho or Kovacic while another 1 of the 5 was a long range effort.

I have started noticing more errors in the back lately, I would be more comfortable with having him as an extra insurance policy at the back. We seem to be folding under the slightest of pressure when we play from the back lately.

Not sure if Mount is the main man for that under Tuchel but if he's not playing as an attacker, then what is he supposed to do? What is his role in this team?

The one thing I'd say is Mount gets away with A LOT of things on the pitch with the fans (more pertinent elsewhere), because he came from the academy. If he misses a chance, fluffs a final ball, makes poor decisions etc (and they have happened a lot), not many fans will complain at all. But if it's Werner, Pulisic, Havertz, Ziyech etc, there will be outrage among the fans. Sure, people will argue that Mount cost nothing while the others cost a lot of money but screw that. If people are gonna hold the others to high standards, top level standards, then it should be the same with Mount as well.

He has been shit for a few weeks now too, he needs to be held to the same standards as everyone else.

Now that the stupid drama has died down a little, am I the only one who thinks we were unlucky not to win the game? The performance wasn't the best but we created enough opportunities in the final. The only problem, as always, was the decision making and finishing touch! 🤦‍♂️

My biggest problem is we have become bottlers in the last 3 years, if this was 5 years ago we beat Villa 6-0. We are missing something from that group of players

I have heard so many times stuff about FA Cup not being what it was in the past. And you seriously cannot compare those haha

We bottled the game with Villa an arguably bigger game than the Champ League final
