The other annoying thing is that Scolari doesnt seem too concerned. The press confereces have him smiling and media friendly -obviously this was drilled into him by Kenyon, Tenenbaum etc as an absolute necessity for the job. ''Dont be controversial like Mourinhoo was'' The result is smiles, shrugs of the shoulders, and ''This is Football'' bollox.

Not missed a pompey game for 25 odd years or something, mad as a lorry, but oldskool top fan
-
They were shite first half against Burnley, then 'Arry swapped it all about for the 2nd half, and won 4-1. Now 'Arry is a slimey cnut, but at least he knows how to switch things around -be it a club or formation -I wish Scolari would take a leaf out of his book , or grow a pair, tactically he's like an anaemic sloth by comparison.

Joe Cole and Ashley Cole do really well for England on the left. Source for this ?

Good article Elliott. Gaza seems to be essentially a prison, where Israel put the Palestinians after throwing them off their own land.
-
True. Israel chose the time between Christmas and the New Year to kill and maim, knowing full well most diplomats and leaders are on their break, thus taking longer for any cease fire to happen....

Found this by John Pilger, completely out of order. "Dr. Dahlan, a psychiatrist who heads a children’s community health project, told me, ’The statistic I personally find unbearable is that 99.4 percent of the children we studied suffer trauma … 99.2 percent had their homes bombarded; 97.5 percent were exposed to tear gas; 96.6 percent witnessed shooting; a third saw family members or neighbors injured or killed.’" Dr. Dahlan’s findings are consistent with other studies which show that at least 72.8% of children in the occupied territories suffer some form of trauma from exposure to random explosions and violence. The result has been a steady up-tick in the number of children who suffer from long-term effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) a condition which can have a destructive effect on mental development and create adults that are excessively nervous, needy or depressed. As Pilger avers, "These children suffer unrelenting nightmares and ’night terrors’ and the dichotomy of having to cope with these conditions." Israel’s sonic blasts are part of a larger psy-ops war that is aimed at directly at children; it has no other conceivable purpose. The explosions have no military value except to attack the fragile psyche of the most vulnerable and sensitive. As the survey indicates, Israel’s plan has succeeded quite admirably. In fact, Israel is so pleased with the results of its psy-ops terror-campaign that it has developed "sound bombs" which are intended to create widespread fear and trauma. This new weapon has been successfully deployed in Gaza "inducing miscarriages and traumatizing children". Israel is aware of these effects and continues to use the weapon regardless of the human suffering it causes. Just think of the money that could be saved if the Palestinians can just be kept in abeyance by producing a constant state of trepidation. This appears to be the rationale of the Israeli leadership, who continue to explore the frontiers of psycho-anxiety weaponry. What other possible reason could there be for sound bombs? The moral implications of targeting children with mind-damaging weaponry is profound and alarming. To my thinking, it measures up quite impressively with the depraved acts of 9-11. Perhaps, it even exceeds them. After all, is there a more heinous crime than purposefully hurting children? In recent weeks we have seen numerous incidents where children were killed or wounded by Israeli bombs or missiles. The most widely-publicized of these was the attack on the beach in Gaza where an entire family was killed instantly leaving behind a young Palestinian girl who has become a symbol of Israeli callousness and injustice. As Pilger notes, "For the Palestinians, a war against their children is hardly new. A 2004 field study published in the British Medical Journal reported that, in the previous 4 years, ’Two-thirds 621 children killed (by Israelis) at checkpoints…on the way to school, in their homes, died from small arms fire, directed in over half the cases to the head neck and chest—the sniper’s wound." Whether the Israeli people support a policy that intentionally targets children is irrelevant. As the "sound bombs" indicate, such a policy does in fact exist. Also, as the "sniper wounds" of over 400 children suggest, the killing of children is, at the very least, tolerated as an unavoidable consequence of occupation. This is completely unacceptable.

..will watch yernited game with Abramovich, his first Prem game since leaving According to the Sun...

Bookies have stopped taking bets on Scolari to be the next Premiership sacking.... Dead man Walking ?
-
Yup TB that has been the accepted position, but money, and particularly the loss of it can bring out the extremes in people. The club hierarchy ''being confident'' is no guarantee whatsoever. We've heard this morning that Scolari has been told in no uncertain terms that the £12 million from Bridge he cant use.
-
Same old -either too many or not enough defenders. He's done exceptionally well at Wolves, instrumental in why they're flying. The way this club is behaving, he'll probably be flogged off to Villa or something.....
-
We always seem to do well up there, even when we were shit. Hopefully Drogs can bully their defenders.

Abramovich has lost a few billion in the last few weeks, the Russian stock market has collapsed spectacularly, he was also in New york just before the announcement that Bernard Madoff had embezzled £50 billion. He still has hundred of millions of pounds, but lets not forget the bigger picture that Chelsea Football club is one of his toys like one of his yachts. He loses a few billion, hes sore. This explains the petty cut backs like players only being given four complimentary tickets, and having to pay for their own meals at the training ground. Not that good for morale if you ask me. He is calling in his debts owed by the club, so the £30 million for Robinho, or any money available can be called back as his debt at anytime...
-
We need to face up to the fact Clarke and Mourinho wont be coming back -and the club has fucked up royally by getting rid. Abramovich has paid the price for wanting -''more exciting football''. Why oh why are we weakening the squad by offloading Bridge at this juncture ?? Scolari seems quite unconcerned in press conferences -all the ''oh well'' bollocks and ''This is football''. Rapidly losing faith that he cares at all....
-
God yeah -the dreaded pens. How frustrating was that ? Seems to be a complete lack of clinical finishing and sheer desire to put it in the onion bag. Fair play to the 6000 odd Shrimper pikeys, gave it all the vocal -but shouldnt be allowed in the Shed !!! Oh well should wrap it up Wednesday week....
-
Man City have the cash now -not that Abramovich is skint, but apparently the fraudster in New York, Bernard Madoff made off with a fair chunk. Bridge has been the consumate professional.
-
Lies a lot as well.... Oh, apart from two Serb Internationals
-
Still letting Deco off the hook with his possession loss, and wasteful balls. Scolari is becoming BIG PhiLiabilty, and patience will be lost upstairs soonish, with his days numbered. Man Utd have three home games in hand, will means us being 2pts behind them in third because its unlikely theyll drop points against Fulham, Wigan and Boro.
-
Agree about the posts thing -it's basic football you learn as a kid. It's fucking annoying to concede goals like that, and not for the first time.
-
The media would be creaming themselves if Ferdinand, Carragher or Gerrard had tackled like that. Can here Skysports now - ''Ohh what passion and determination...'' Cech was imperious and kept it at 0-0, Bosingwa and Ashley Cole were good as well....and our fans gave a good account away again...
-
Nice bit of optimism P. My christmas drink is half empty, and I cant see a way out unless there is more focus and motivation. Something that was more readily forthcoming from Clarke and Mourinho than Wilkins and Scolari. The positive thing , and what makes it more intersting is the other three of the 'top four' all stumbling along...

Wasn't a red by any stretch. Not even a yellow, fat ref was swayed by the baying Birkenhead crowd. See tackles like that every week, but when the crowd went ballistic, the ref got all indignant. He was later biased out of all proportion, and Scolari and Wilkins were right to not do any interviews as they would have definitely gone off on one. Well the current form is pretty dire -and to big up the Drogba/Anelka partnership before the game , and then only play Anelka was either psychology (which obviously didnt work) or stupidity. I thought the battling at the end showed character, even though Chelseas character shouldnt be defensively hanging on for a point...but that was down to a certain fat official.

Drogba & Anelka Aren't Gelling At Chelsea

Lol -None of 'Zack Wilson's surmising reflects Scolaris comments. Scolaris not going to come out and say 'Yup it works 100%' as the expectations would be way to high on the pitch, so what does he say 'Its 50% successful'. From that Goal make up their story -
Been going a lot longer than the European Cup It was called the Intercontinental Cup and was quite a good tournament. Ruined by cash hungry marketeers now, half the teams had gone when United touched down in Japan, due to FIFAs coefficient rating .
