Story is in The Sun so take it with a pinch, or sack, of salt.... Bilic is good -but Croatia play well because they are fierce nationalists, which can make Bilic seem better than he is. My first choice would be for big Gus to stay ,solely because the squad respect him and want to play for him, hes intelligent, and can motivate. But that doesnt seem a reality. To me its imeprative the club appoints an ex player (or Mourinho) who can gel and motivate, but also retain enough distance where he is respected because of who he is. Worst scenario is we get another string of 'big' names on four year contracts who stay for a few months each because they dont do the business, and walk away with 10 million quid. Ancellotti would fall into that bracket......

Definitely ! We've still never lost to them when we've 11 on the pitch ....
-
For those who didnt see it -and our fans overseas -Heres the Inside Sport interview. Comes across as a really nice bloke Mr Nice Guy

Agree that Cech was MOM -but he shouldnt have been - too much hoofing and giving away cheap possession. What a 'orrible little cunt that Dani-''Gollum'' lookalike -Alves is!!! Good chance of doing them on Wednesday -but we want the tight, keep possession, Chelsea playing. Hiddink can change the way we play for games as and when by the looks of things. They will score I feel, so we need to fly out the traps as we did when we beat them 4-2. They haven't been that good away from home of late -and they've Madrid at the weekend which should fuck them up a bit ! We have Fulham so we should definitely rest some key players and play some reserves.......

Watched that as well Frank -wish I shared your optimism. There seems to be an obsession with Messi in the Chelsea camp -whilst he is clear and present danger -I'd be just as concerned about Xavi, Iniesta, Alves. I'll be happy if theres a one goal deficit for the return leg.....

Ryan Giggs wins PFA player of the year award
Fulham Broadway replied to SystemBlueBob's topic in Football Chat
I could understand the piggy eyed winger winning a long term posterity award, after all hes acquired countless trophies and medals -but Player of the Year ? Cmon, for fucks sake, the clue is in the title. The hirsuite ageing Welshman has barely fucking moved this year...... -
IPSWICH TO KEEP LARGE NET HANDY IPSWICH Town yesterday unveiled Roy Keane as their new manager but stressed they would be keeping a large butterfly net to hand, just in case. Keane prefers to bite down on a pencilChief executive Simon Clegg said that while he expected Keane to bring silverware to Portman Road the club also had a responsibility to ensure they could catch him as quickly as possible. He added: "The net is the safest method, but if he manages to outrun his carers then we are prepared to bring him down with a tranquiliser dart and then secure him to a wooden plank using strong leather bindings." Much of the club's offices and training facilities have been padded in anticipation of the appointment, while a treatment room has been refurbished to accommodate Keane's electro-shock paraphernalia. Keane told a press conference that Ipswich was a great club with a proud history that had always punched above its weight and said he was looking forward to taking his first training session just as soon as the 40ft high chicken had been removed from the centre circle. The Manchester United legend also claimed none of his former team mates had so far made a success of management, while only a handful had harnessed the power to make themselves invisible. Keane said that Mark Hughes had done better at Blackburn than Manchester City before insisting repeatedly that Steve Bruce does not exist. He added: "I have the support of the owner who understands that it's very important for me to able to buy any player I want and then experiment on him in my underground laboratory."

Anelka did well earlier in the season, great goal tally and has continued with assists. If Drogba had been in his present form all season, as he has been of late -he would have got my vote. Second for me would be Ashley Cole very impressed and gets better all the time, .......but No 1 for me has to be Fat Frank. How Lampard didnt get a mention for Player of the Year uis unbelievable. Yet those Man United Mediocrities get nominated ! Giggs 12 league games, Scholes 12 league games, Rafael 9 league games, 4 league goals between them. Lampard 33 league games, 12 goals. 50 starts all in all One more goal will bring his tally to 20 - 4 seasons in a row ? Absolutely superb.

NME cover from 1979 -Glasgow Mods Alright, Jimmy ?
-
I reckon he'll still be here come next season....
-
Agree, it wont happen -so theres no point in thinking about it

Dont beleive this. I can believe Grants agent has been touting the imbecile, but not that the Czech FA approached him. Is there a requirement for a Special Needs fuckwit at the Czech helm ? Even if he went there -he'd last 6 months at the outside....
-
A lot will depend on the last few games. If he scores a winner at Wembley or against Barca, for instance, he'll still be at SW 6 come 2009-10...
-
He has raised his game as have all the squad under Big Guss. Quite happy with his performance at the moment, as well as the goal to take Chelsea to another FA Cup Final
-
Everton should be fucked after their marathon do at the weekend - 2-0 Drogs, and Herr Ballack
-
Oh yeah Derrrrr -as they say OK what about the time he said he was entitled to £50 million -half of the racehorse stud fees of former ManUtd owners John Magnier and JP McManus over the ownership rights to legendary thoroughbred Rock of Gibraltar ?? Cunt said it was a verbal arrangement. As a settlement they offerd him £2.5 million -or stud rights for four years. Greedy cunt took the £2.5 million and missed out on £20 million stud rights for the next four years

Alan Shearer hints at making Newcastle a long-term project
Fulham Broadway replied to SystemBlueBob's topic in Football Chat
NEWCASTLE FANS ARE TO PRETEND CHAMPIONSHIP IS PREMIER LEAGUE NEWCASTLE United fans brushed off yesterday's defeat by Spurs insisting they have a fool-proof scheme to guarantee the club a place in next season's top flight. Cristiano Ronaldo will be played by Iain HumeWith Sir Alan Shearer's team now firmly in the relegation zone, United fans have drawn-up plans to pretend the Championship is now the Premier League. Shearer has backed the idea stressing that even if the club was to plummet to mid-table in the Conference North, the supporters would still be making travel arrangements for a lengthy Uefa Cup run. Bill McKay, assistant secretary of the Toon Army supporters club, said: "Ipswich play in blue so they can be Chelsea or Everton. "We'll have at least one of the Sheffields and no-one's ever entirely sure what league they're in, Derby can be Fulham and we could even pretend Coventry are still a proper football team "Meanwhile Bristol City will from now on be known as Arsenal, Barnsley can pass for Man Utd if you squint hard enough and Notts Forest should make a perfectly decent Liverpool. "And just like the old days we won't have to play small teams like Wigan, Stoke, Bolton, Portsmouth and Hull, so we can pretend they're still in the old second division." United fan Tom Logan added: "Newcastle have the best fans in the Premier League, as anybody who watches Sky Sports knows. So we can't be relegated, otherwise we can't be the best fans in the Premier League. Right? Right? Please say that's right." -
How many times does he go on about 4-5-1, Diaby, Wenger

Watched this in a pub round Bermondsey way. The sort of pub where if you dont have tatoos on your neck and knuckles -you're a bender. All the geezers in there- West Ham blokes-were rooting for the gooners out of their raw hatred of Chelsea. Few hairy moments, but managed to emerge unscathed. Everton winning yesterday capped a beautiful weekend.....
