Why Luiz is perfect for Chelsea
Fulham Broadway replied to BlueLion.'s topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Interesting article from the Guardian. It could, of course be that Terry is just knackered. As far as Luiz is concerned , I am sure he would have been excellent, but if Piennar is the benchmark player they are looking to sign, then the likes of Titus Bramble is more likely. Even if Abramovich went back to those heady, splashing the cash days, a signing like this would not sit well with Alex or Ivanovich , the latter who has allegedly said he will pack his bags if not allowed to be centre back. -
Carvalho, Tiago, Ferreira

We're in the wrong job - 2.45 million Euros to ensure ....''The second, remarkably, was to "look after the wellbeing of the player … the agent will do his best to ensure that the player … timeously [sic] attends training and matches'' -
Explains the 'mystery' of football agents, and the incredible amounts of cash people get for very little work concentrating on Tiago, Mourinho, Ferreira, and Carvalho's 'agent'. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/david-conn-inside-sport-blog/2011/jan/18/jorge-mendes-super-agent

Agree. Top post, I mean what do these people actually do ?? In essence they're all patting each other on the back and getting ''awards'' by people who dress up and pretend to be other people , for ..er...dressing up and pretending to be other people.

As fans, are we supportive enough?

Lol I am sure he could get a reduced price ticket in the Special Needs seats at Emirates -
Real and Barca are both heavily in debt, and true are subsidised by ''regional patronage'' Bit like the local council stumping up cash. I remember the last time Real were in debt they sold off their training ground to the govt in 2001?-2002. Being Real (Royal) they also get allegedly Royal patronage. When they bought the World and his Dog a few seasons ago they got a loan of 150 million or thereabouts from a State Bank. now would that normally happen if you were 300 odd million in debt ? Could Pompey have got a loan ? Also the TV revenue in England is sold as a collective lot by the Premier League -La Liga sells it off club by club and obviously the lions share is paid for the 2 El Classico teams. I am sure there are imaginative ways round this ruling -and Gourlay is probably on the phone to China as we speak to get Chelsea pensioner dolls and Samsung Beefeater Teddy Bears to sell in the megastore.

It is a joke. I suppose something had to be done though -with a third of all European clubs spending more than they're earning it is no surprise that players wages are running at 10% increase year on year. If that continued it would only be a matter of time before a handful of billionaires control football. er.. bit like now really. I see Platini was flown to Abu Dhabi to see Man City owners to ''discuss'' the new arrangements.......
-
Good God. Couldnt we get Titus Bramble as well ? Yeah Man City getting round that revenue thing with lucrative sponsorship deals. Couldnt we do the same ? ''The Samsung Shed'' or ''The Middle East stand'' (appropriate some days)

Emenalo. Nice to see him giving Carlo loads of support. What a useless cunt. He was at Anfield yesterday sat next to Mick Mccarthy. So hes an opposition scout and assistant team coach as well. Looks like we have an assistant coach on the cheap, from Poundland

Where Were You When We Were Shit ?

Hey chaps, this wasnt started to bring up the 'i'm a better fan than you' arguments, It was to highlight how redundant the chant is from opposition fans. (However there are fans on matchdays that are fucking idiots -texting through games, doing nothing but taking pictures, asking ''whos JT'' ? etc -usually tourists. ) I particularly remember the Leeds game, Grimsby, and the 4-0 humiliation of the barcodes at home where they were expected to win. Their fans had those massive foam pointing hands which we comandeered, and then used to all point at them and keegan. There was a real sense of excitement at every game of that season, especially away games, that isnt the same now, but it will come back ! -
Never forget it LDN Blue. Still feel privileged -but i now realise he was the sort of bloke who would have talked to any fan. -My mate wasnt sure what was going on when he came over either

End of Feb 2005 went into the Shakespeare pub in Bristol for a couple of after work liveners and to meet a mate. Pub was empty at around 6.30pm. Got a pint then did a double take as sat in the corner was Peter Osgood. He was having a red wine before going next door to the Unicorn Hotel to talk to the Bristol City players in some motivational after dinner do. They say you should never meet your heroes as you'll be disappointed, but I wasnt -chatted to him for over an hour about old games, He talked about the pub he ran with Hutch, how Ramsay was a snob and didnt really like him which was why he wasnt picked for that Brazil game. He was also very bitter about Ken Bates who'd shown him the door at Stamford Bridge in his ambassador role. but he had some great stories. Also anecdotes about George Best. He bought me another 2 pints and my mate one and I bought him 2 red wines. He was my idol as I grew up and as far as I was concerned the best. One of the greatest evenings of my life even though I was bit overawed, he was down to earth and great company. Sadly almost a year to the day he died.

Some good questions there. I think as with any cup competition there is definitely a case of ''luck permitting''. The CL over the years has certainly had its element of luck. Bindippers 3 down at half time springs to mind, and I sometimes wake up in a sweat having dreamt it's been won by the Yids at first attempt. We know that the likelihood of this is slim, but stranger things have happened. As you say with other clubs in London in the knockout stages, the worst case scenario is one of the Norf london mobs win it. If you beleive the press its the Holy Grail that Abramovich craves, and certainly some fans too. The positive if there is no European silverware this year, I can see some proper rebuilding of the ageing squad, and a major clearout.

Steve you could prob save a packet by joining YHA. and staying in a hostel. Some are really good http://www.yha.org.uk/find-accommodation/london/index.aspx

I'm Back, well I'll try to be
Fulham Broadway replied to Lampards Bitch's topic in Announcements & Support
I mentioned on the legends forum about you and that other miscreant Mike -and Ollie said he'd facebook you. Anyway welcome back -
He was on TalkShite last night and sounded fairly modest, not what I expected to be honest. Said he'd met Abramovich just the once, though had never seen him at Cobham. Also said he was upset when Wilkins was given the boot.

Remember them ! Good for infiltrating away ends Maybe get one on toffs or Traditional Football Scarves...?
-
Sturridge has scored a few now in cup games v lower league, with only bit parts in the league. He really deserves a start to prove himself now and should start ahead of Kalou at least, though playing him instead of the Drog or Anelka is just as moral at the moment

If we get 50-80 000 sweatys in Wembley again, and they win, it'll be Ultimate Crossbar Challenge again...... Theres something about that fixture that brings out the Braveheart in them, and winning at Wembley, =carnage.
