  1. Hardly surprising, she was obviously loved because of the gesture by JT to get that shirt printed up. Once again, rest in peace. The wins against United and Liverpool are clearly dedicated to her.
  2. Its the last day of the season, and their last game in front of their home fans. They have nothing but pride to play for now, and United won't enjoy playing in that pitch. Just believe, lad.
  3. We beat them in the Carling Cup in the 04/05 campaign and Drogba's freekick did the same last year. Beat them 1-0 at the Bridge last season and shared a 0-0 draw, but as Elliott says, we've always played the, after the title is won/lost, and never had the luxury of playing a fully fit squad against Newcaslte.
  4. Chelsea vs Manchester United The UEFA Champions League Final Wednesday 21 May, 19:45 BST Kick-off, Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow, Russia Chelsea and Manchester United clash in an epic all-English encounter in the UEFA Champions League Final. It is the first time that two English sides have met in the final and only the third occasion in the history of the competition that two teams from the same country will battle for the ultimate European club honour. Both teams battled through difficult groups, with Chelsea pipping the likes of Schalke, Rosenborg BK and CF Valencia to top spot in their group, whilst Manchester United overcame AS Roma, Sporting Lisbon and Dynamo Kyiv. The Blues swept aside Olympiakos 3-0 on aggregate before taking on Fenerbahce in the quarter-finals. The away leg against the Greek side was a dull affair, but an impressive display at Stamford Bridge saw the Blues move on through the knockout rounds. Fenerbahce proved more-troublesome opponents, and only goals from Ballack and Lampard saw Avram Grant's side progress to the semi-finals, after the Blues had lost 2-1 in Istanbul. United's journey was no less difficult, the English champions took on the best of France as Olympique Lyonnais locked horns with Sir Alex Ferguson's side. Carlos Tevez netted a crucial last-minute equaliser at the Stade Gerland after Karim Benzema's opener, and Cristiano Ronaldo sealed up the tie with a 1-0 win at Old Trafford. They then took on AS Roma, a team they had beaten and drawn against in the group stage, and defeated them 3-0 on aggregate. The semi-finals involving these two English giants offered two pulsating ties as United faced the might of Barcelona whilst Chelsea faced Liverpool for the third time in four seasons at this stage of the competition. United progressed to the final thanks to a Paul Scholes thunderbolt, but the best of the games was saved till last as Chelsea defeated Liverpool 3-2 and 4-3 on aggregate. Didier Drogba netted twice at Stamford Bridge and Frank Lampard scored a crucial penalty, but goals from Fernando Torres and Ryan Babel underlined Liverpool's never-say-die attitude, but the Blues proved too strong for the Merseyside team. The final is a repeat of last season's FA Cup final at Wembley, and recent games have underlined how evenly matched the sides are. The last four league meetings between the two sides have seen both sides win one, draw 2 and lose the other, whilst cup games ended 1-0 in the cup final and only penalties could separate the two sides in the Community Shield. And with just goal difference separating England's top two teams in the FA Premier League, the Champions League final offers to be an intriguingly tight affair full of drama, passion and bravery. Come on you Blues!
  5. Call of Duty 4 has been made to look superfluous since the release of Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. But on topic, GTAIV is absolutely incredible, arguably the best game I've ever played.
  6. I'm not ashamed to admit I was in tears when he netted that. So proud of him.
  7. My mate was sitting behind the dug-outs and he saw Rafa pen down the following in his notebook: 'Mental note - remember not to piss off Drogba ahead of crucial Champions League semi-final second leg.'
  8. You can tell its not a Sky article because of the way you presented the text. “It’s unfair” “Both Barcelona and ourselves rested players but Manchester United and Chelsea play their first team” Would appear as: “It’s unfair. “Both Barcelona and ourselves rested players but Manchester United and Chelsea play their first team”
  9. The media are warming to him, though. Tabloids have praised his humility and dignity, he is growing on a lot of people.
  10. In my opinion, Grant's progress has been aided by three things - luck, the quality of players at his disposal, and some genuinely brilliant tactical ploys. Whether he devised them or not, the man deserves some credit for beating Arsenal, Everton, United and Liverpool recently.
  11. Best atmosphere since Barcelona in 2005. Incredible Match report = http://www.talkchelsea.net/forum/index.php...c=1760&st=0
  12. Chelsea F.C. 3 - 2 Liverpool April 30 2008, UEFA Champions League Semi Final, Second Leg, Stamford Bridge, West London A Didier Drogba brace and a Frank Lampard penalty earned Chelsea a place in the UEFA Champions League final. May 8, 2005. William Gallas looks a dejected figure as he lies motionless on the Anfield turf. A single goal from Luis Garcia settles a tight encounter, but television replays indicate the ball did not cross the line. Memories of the 'Phantom Goal' still haunt Chelsea. May 1, 2007. Dirk Kuyt seals a penalty shoot-out win for Liverpool as Chelsea yet again fall at the final hurdle in the Champions League. José Mourinho and his players trudge off a water-logged pitch disappointed once more. Steven Gerrard celebrates as Liverpool reach a second final in three seasons. April 30, 2008. Didier Drogba celebrates with the Stamford Bridge faithful after his brace sends Chelsea through to the final of the European Cup for the first in time in its history. The terraces ring with the jubilation and emotion of the fans as Avram Grant collapses to his knees, succumbing to the realisation he has succeeded where his predecessor failed. And the Chelsea manager offered a humbling showing of dignity in his post-match interview, dedicating his greatest achievement to the memory of the many people who were killed during the Holocaust on its anniversary. The moving sentiment, coupled with the exchange of a loving glance between a teary-eyed Frank Lampard and his father underline the passion, commitment and dedication of the Chelsea side. As the midfielder stepped up to take a penalty won by Michael Ballack after he had been fouled by Sammi Hyypia, Stamford Bridge fell quiet as the Chelsea number 8 placed the ball on the spot. But the player showed his mettle by sending Jose Reina the wrong way, and as he produced a black armband in memory of his mother, Chelsea knew that destiny was their ally. Memories of Anfield in previous campaigns were washed away by the heavy downpours as Stamford Bridge erupted at the end of extra-time. Grant elected to make two changes to the side that earned a respectable 1-1 draw at Anfield due to John Arne Riise's own-goal that cancelled out Dirk Kuyt's opener. Michael Essien returned from suspension, whilst Salomon Kalou returned in place of French winger Florent Malouda. Lampard returned to the side after missing Saturday's game with Manchester United, and Didier Drogba retained his place ahead of Nicolas Anelka. Chelsea started brightly and looked to put home advantage to good use, creating a number of opportunities in the opening minutes. Drogba tested Reina in a number of occasions, and but for a matter of inches, came close to opening the scoring from an acute angle after being played in magnificently by Lampard. The Ivorian later powered a blockbuster of a strike from 25 yards that forced the Spanish goalkeeper into a diving save - Reina did well to push the ball away for a corner after the ball skidded along an increasingly-saturated surface. They made a deserved breakthrough when Kalou was played in by Lampard's first-time pass. Cutting inside his marker, he curled the ball to the far post only to see it parried strongly by Reina. However the ball fell only to Kalou's compatriot Drogba, who rifled home from 12 yards, beating Reina at his near post. The Chelsea forward celebrated by skidding along the touchline by the Liverpool bench, in light of the Liverpool manager Benitez labelling the Ivorian as a 'cheater.' Michael Ballack went close to doubling the lead prior to half-time, but his 25-yard free kick sailed inches wide of the top corner with Reina beaten. Liverpool were failing to create the necessary chances, as only Torres had forced Cech into a meaningful save in the opening minutes; the Spaniard cutting inside Terry but finding his route to goal blocked by the tall Czech goalkeeper, who made a smart parry. Yet something seemed to galvanise the visiting side after the interval, and they were level on 64 minutes, with Torres netting his 31st goal of the season. Yossi Bennayoun capitalised on a loose pass and threaded the ball to the feet of the Spanish striker, who turned and finished with aplomb. Chelsea were losing rhythm and Liverpool had taken much heart from the goal, and the away side were clearly in the ascendancy. Cech was forced into action several times, denying Kuyt brilliantly with his foot, and making several excellent catches whilst under pressure from the Dutch forward. Slowly but surely, Chelsea were regaining a foothold in the game. Extra-time was required with the score locked at 1-1, and Chelsea demonstrated their incredible spirit and immense fitness by battering the Anfield side with a salvo of goals in the first half of the additional thirty minutes. Essien spanked the ball home from 20 yards with less than 120 seconds played, but the goal was ruled out as Didier Drogba appeared to be offside and interfering with play. Chelsea were furious, but regained the initiative within a matter of minutes. Ballack turned in the box before being hacked down by Hyypia, a first-half replacement for the injured Skrtel. Lampard stepped up and finished from 12 yards, sending Reina the wrong way. As Lampard wept over the loss of his mother, so did the heavens - the conditions ever worsening. Yet nothing seemed to be able to dampen the spirits of the home side, clearly inspired by the bravery of their vice-captain. Being marshalled by the ever-reliable pairing of Terry and Carvalho, the Blues hit Liverpool on the counter-attack as the away side poured forward looking for another goal. However Drogba finished from 8 yards after Anelka had combined with Essien to break the offside trap before squaring the ball to the Ivorian. Anelka - introduced as a substitute early in extra-time, danced in celebration, earning an assist against his former employers. Chelsea were bossing matters but Liverpool looked to have found a way back into the tie when Ryan Babel struck from 35 yards. The Dutchman shot specutively, but the ball spun wickedly in the air and could only bounce off the gloves of Petr Cech and rustle the net. But Liverpool had given everything and the superior fitness of the home side saw them through to the finish line. Cue hysteria at Stamford Bridge. ___________________________________________________________________ Match Fact : Chelsea are unbeaten in 81 home league matches and 101 in all domestic competitions. 13. Can't wait for this game, Newcastle-Chelsea games have been particularly tight at Saint James' recently, but this is a must win. On the back of two absolutely massive wins, I think we have enough to scrape this one.
  14. Credit where credit is due. Grant did well last night.
  15. Yeah I saw Really bright, but it was up to Cech.
  16. I'm off now, people. Enjoy the game, and KTBFFH!
  17. The orange looks deceptively more pale in pictures of it in lighted areas, as in that video.
  18. Had some banter with some deluded Scousers, they really think they can win at the Bridge.
  19. If ever I have seen a game where one team dominated so much without scoring, it was United versus Barcelona tonight. Credit where credit is due, United attacked with more purpose. Rijkaard is a dead man walking.
  20. I wouldn't put it past the Scousers. Hoping for a win tomorrow, it would be nice to see us go through as aggregate winners and not on away goals.
  21. I don't see what Drogba's problem was, but I guess it would have been a different matter had he found the top corner.
  22. Well my point is not that we can get a good away result, but moreso that we can ensure qualification by doing what is required at home, if you understand.
  23. According to the press, Capello really isn't happy about Ferdinand's display, and neither are the FA. But that's if you believe the tabloids.
  24. The team that beat United was brilliant, I really don't want to see it changed, but Grant is hell-bent on playing Makelele.
  25. A new home kit every season? Fair play to them, at least they're admitting to it. And I'm glad Cech had some say in his shirt, interesting theory about the colour.
