  1. Lippi is the only manager in the world, bar Ferguson, who can compare to the Special One, IMO.
  2. I don't think he will, if we bring in a top manager he will want to bring his own backroom staff in.
  3. To be honest you can't blame him for the order of the penalties. Its whoever is up for it, ultimately.
  4. 1. Cech 2. Lahm 3. Abidal 4. Mertesacker 5. Materazzi 6. Ronaldo 7. Sneijder 8. de Rossi 9. Toulalan 10. Torres 11. Benzema Sub: 12. Charisteas
  5. Mate. I'm a goalkeeper, and I don't like to blow my own trumpet, but I believe I'm decent enough to defend Cech in this situation. You can't learn to save penalties. It's a lottery, it is impossible to determine where they will go. A goalkeeper has two choices in a penalty shootout. The first is to chose a side to dive, dive about a foot and a half off the ground so you can reach medium-to-high penalties on your side whilst being able to deny low ones with the torso and free arm. The other is to stand still and wait for the ball to be kicked and try and gauge the shot, as Cech did against Ronaldo. Its a high rish situation to do so, but if the ball is near enough to the middle of the goal then there is a good chance it can be saved. It's all about guess work. You can't learn how to save them.
  6. Welcome to Talk Chelsea.
  7. Fair play to you Hingis, many people would swear and curse. Very mature thing to do.
  8. After everything that has happened, bring Mourinho back wouldn't be the biggest surprise in football this season. I highly doubt it could happen, though.
  9. Hearing him say that is almost as good as winning any trophy. He's basically saying he wants the manager's job
  10. The club will drop a bollock if they cut the squad size. We did that in June-August 2006, and then look what happened - Ferreira and Essien in central defence against Liverpool at Anfield.
  11. Thanks for everything, Avram. I suppose his job was on the line whether or not he won a trophy. He didn't do bad, but following an act like Mourinho is one hell of a tough thing to do. Good luck to the bloke.
  12. Gutted. Fucking gutted. To quote Rafa Benitez... There's always next season Roll on Rome 2009.
  13. Grant is completely faultless for last night, but I am certain he will leave. In fairnes, the bloke has done very well. He could have made a name for himself in Chelsea folklore. Shame. Never was the right man for the job though, but he has 100% of my respect.
  14. Alcides is a good player, but he needs PL experience. A loan move to a team such as Fulham or Stoke, etc. would be good for the player.
  15. Proud of Terry and proud of the team, except Drogba.
  16. Two words, the second one ends with the same letter the first one begins with.
  17. Grant will play Cole after the CC Final, I think.
  18. Ribery is worth every penny. Young, on top of his game and experienced on the European stage at the same time.
  19. If we sell him, he'll go to a club like Villa, play every week and be top notch again. We have a choice, one that is the best for the club, one that is best for the player. The latter would see him move where he can play every week and get into the England squad. The former would be to keep him here - selling him to one of our rivals, for example, would be highly deterimental.
