  1. Sorry, not having this “we don’t have the best pulling power” stuff even a little bit. Perhaps for the absolute best of the best like Haaland who will have every top club after him it will be a struggle. But we absolutely have the pulling power to lure world class players. It’s just unfortunate that the ones we want are already at financially stable clubs and will cost mile high fees. We’re as attractive as any club in Europe. We’re in an era where even the West Ham’s and Leicester’s of the world can put their foot down and demand £80m or £100m for their players, ffs. That’s the issue h

  3. With the (long running) rumours of Broja being in the squad this season and now the smoke about Sterling's inclusion this season it seems like Tuchel unlike Conte is prepared to improvise a bit if he can't have number 1/ideal targets. 100% the right way to go, especially now as we have a first team line-up that are already top notch and on the up.

  4. Without a world class striker coming in, seeing Tammy in that disgusting red shirt would be hard to watch. I’m sure our club understand that well. Sending him to Arse and bringing in some random dude like the striker from Stuttgart would cause huge uproar.

  7. Coman rumours are BS. Also I don't think Bayern are too keen on doing business with us. One thing we read early on might very well be true: We are not buying anyone until TT has evaluated all the dregs and decided who should be offloaded and who he will keep in the team. I refuse to believe all our deadwood actually is completely useless. Sure most simply will not cut it at the top level but TT has specific tactical requirements and coaching methods. Some players who did not really fit with those of his predecessors mighte excel under his. Just like Moses was a dreg until tried

  8. The vaccine does not prevent everyone getting a covid-19 variant but no vaccine against any virus even claims to be able to do that. The percentages are heavily in your favour if you are vaccinated however vs being unvaccinated. Just looking at the Pfizer vaccine, more than 19 out of every twenty people who died of covid last week were not fully vaccinated. That means that your chances of dying from covid is more than 19 times higher if you are not fully Pfizered than if you are. The vaccine reduces your chances of contracting covid in the first place and reduces your chances of dying fro

  10. Watch him tear it up in pre season starting another false dawn and with talks how he finally finds his role under TT and having recovered in great shape just to be picked up by the police at 3pm drunk, shirtless with a bag of crisps. Then immediately loaned out to Midtable FC. Rinse and repeat.

  11. What about the others who also played the FA cup final this season, last season or the UEFA Super Cup etc? Or the rest of the Derby team who lost the playoff final also when he was there? Or the rest of the England team who lost the Euros final? You calling them all not capable of being part of trophy winning teams too? Or are you just going after our player of the year for the sakes of being controversial or edgy over a forum which I think the Mount critics are more than anything now because even when he was playing well last season, it was still reoccurring. Same with Jorginho. Its kind

  16. Inclined to agree with that but how willing are the club and Tuchel as well as Abraham to reconcile with one another? Hardly a secret that they've been shopping him around. Wonder if it's better to maybe get a non-expensive backup that Tuchel rates as opposed to one that he doesn't.

  18. Maybe, maybe not. Us fans obviously don't know the full circumstances behind the scenes so it's hard to say. We're talking about a huge investment needed to land Rice so I suppose it makes sense for the club to see whether he can keep playing consistently at a high level for a longer period of time to prove the previous season wasn't just a fluke and that he's the real deal before committing so much money on him? Also, it could be that the club simply couldn't afford to get him last year and it ultimately came down to choosing either Rice or Havertz but not both, and the club ended u

  19. That's not much at the moment, but depending on the size of the sell-on percentage the biggest chunk might still come later if he develops as expected. Already close to £60M in transfer fees received this summer, not bad. Still a lot of players to be sold though. All outgoing transfers are off the wage bill too. Youngsters like Bate probably didn't earn all that much and most of the loanees likely had their wages paid by the loan club so there might not be that much savings on some of the outgoing players but a first team player like Giroud leaving will definitely affect the wage bi

  20. If this is true then it could be a big positive. To rotate him in against specific opposition and see him perform in those games such that we rest players without jeopardising points, would make him an incredibly valuable squad member. How many times did he put the ball in the net from an offside position? A reasonable percentage of those offsides were avoidable. The right little tweak in his game leads to enough extra points to make a difference of 1, or maybe even two, league places.

  21. Leeds are supposedly one of the two clubs pushing hardest to sign Bate. So, I'd assume Bielsa/Leeds have plans for him. Think the reason Bate (and the other two) wants to leave is because we still have Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho while Gilmour is out on loan AND we are supposedly looking to sign a midfielder. It's understandable if the likes of Bate doesn't see a pathway to play regularly in the first team in the near future and wants to leave. As Pizy mentioned in the other thread, when these young players see others are making a name for themselves elsewhere, it's probably hard for them

  24. Feel like we’ve been over the Liverpool example before. The difference between them waiting it out and ourselves is that they had two attackers who were in world class goal scoring form plus Firmino. They also had world class attacking play from both fullbacks. It’s easy to sit back and wait it out when you’re a title winning caliber side. When you’re miles and miles off the top of the table like we were (and have been for 3-4 years now) I don’t think we can afford to wait. We’ll surely never be in a stronger position than now coming off European glory and with other competitors for targe

  25. Camavinga in my opinion is extremely overhyped. Tchouameni is miles better. However we have to keep in mind that he's 18 years old and could change in the future. He's just not ready for a big step up.

  27. It’s kinda scary to think that our top scorer last season had only 7 goals (all from penalties and from a player who never score from open play) and yet there seems to be zero urgency to rectify our struggles in front of goal. We were like 99% likely to miss out on top 4 and were bailed out Bale (lol). And has the reaction to that by the club to make sure something like this never happens again by quickly and decisively attacking the market for a goal scorer? Nope. Instead we seem to be hoping our coach can turn every struggling player from last season into a beast. I mean, could

  28. Yep, while we absolutely should not fall into the trap of thinking Tuchel can work miracles with any and every player he's given we've appointed an elite coach who should be able to fit some players into his system. Klopp is a good example, how many of this UCL/PL winning squad would we have had a meltdown about had we signed them?

  33. I agree there is risk attached to it, but beyond Haaland what striker's are out there we could buy that we're all going to be confident will bang in goals consistently? The striker depth on the market is extremely poor in my opinion. We'd be taking potentially a bigger risk buying a player that isn't one of our top targets and hoping it pays off.

  34. Maybe we don't need Werner and Havertz to produce those numbers. Firstly, I don't think it's completely unrealistic though if that were to happen because both have shown capability of this in previous seasons (albeit not in the Premier League). But if you didn't include Tammy (who if we didn't buy another striker you'd have to believe Tuchel would retain) then our current other 6 'attackers' of Werner, Havertz, Pulisic, Mount, CHO and Ziyech scored 24 Premier League goals between them, so 4 on average. I would be dumbfounded if they did not improve quite considerably on those number

  35. Unless people are mighty confident that Werner will score 20 in the league and Kai 10-15, I don’t understand how anyone can predict us to significantly improve our league position with the squad as is. Will they (and Pulisic, and Ziyech, and Mount) improve? Yes. Enough to make up 20 points on City? Not in my opinion.

  39. The board knows every single thing all of us put together know about football transfers and many, many times more. They live in reality with all facts at their disposal and have handled hundreds of transfer negotiations. This compares very favourably to our combined zero facts, and zero experience dealing with football transfers. It can only be a desire to see squad improvements, plus frustration that we don't know what is happening that cause you to go so far overboard with your comment.

  41. Think we need to give this lad a little credit. Despite his current situation with being demoted to second choice GK... he has handled (pun inteded) the situation like a pro. Fair play... it must not have been easy.. and he hasn't held any bitter feelings towards his team mates or coaching staff. Good lad.

  43. Emerson and Zappa are slightly different, which is why I had them on a separate list. Those two may get a fee and a sale. The other three, no chance. I mean let's look at them: Drinky - possibly and alcoholic with mental health issues. No one is touching him. Batsh*t - A CF that cannot do anything bar put the ball in the net. However, last season he only scored one goal for Palace and was behind Benteke and Ayew. Who is touching him at even £5m? Another problem is where he wants to go. Brugges apprantly offered us a fee and he rejected it as he thought he was to good to go the

  45. What else would it be other than money? There’s no chance clubs like PSG are bigger or more prestigious that Chelsea. They offer players double in wages than we do. That’s it. So no, I’m not confident at all that if we fail to sign Haaland this summer we’ll be able to lure him next year. But that’s not because we are a mid tier club or something. It’s because we don’t offer mammoth wages compared to the state funded clubs.
