  1. It's either Haaland or Lewandowski but not Lukaku. Investing on him is a waste.

  2. Inclined to agree with that but how willing are the club and Tuchel as well as Abraham to reconcile with one another? Hardly a secret that they've been shopping him around. Wonder if it's better to maybe get a non-expensive backup that Tuchel rates as opposed to one that he doesn't.

  4. Maybe, maybe not. Us fans obviously don't know the full circumstances behind the scenes so it's hard to say. We're talking about a huge investment needed to land Rice so I suppose it makes sense for the club to see whether he can keep playing consistently at a high level for a longer period of time to prove the previous season wasn't just a fluke and that he's the real deal before committing so much money on him? Also, it could be that the club simply couldn't afford to get him last year and it ultimately came down to choosing either Rice or Havertz but not both, and the club ended u

  5. With the (long running) rumours of Broja being in the squad this season and now the smoke about Sterling's inclusion this season it seems like Tuchel unlike Conte is prepared to improvise a bit if he can't have number 1/ideal targets. 100% the right way to go, especially now as we have a first team line-up that are already top notch and on the up.

  6. If Werner and Havertz both score 20 each this season, we will laugh even if we don't get Haaland.

  7. Bingo. City have Gündogan, Sterling, Mahrez, KDB, etc who all chip in with decent goal hauls. Liverpool have had the two-headed monster who each scored for fun over the past few seasons. We get ZERO goal contributions from any of our 3 CM’s, Mount doesn’t score often, and our wingers were all subpar last season.

  8. Gundogan did a job for City last season. I wish Kova or Jorgi could ever do something like that. The lack of goal threat has been there since Sarri.

  9. I dont think it's really about having a striker, but about having a consistent goal threat. If we had someone even from midfield filling that description, we would be in a better position. No one from our team meets that description. Yet.

  10. For me it is Haaland or someone of that calibre or no-one. There is no rush, we can try again in January and next summer but in the long-term it is much more productive having someone that wants to be here than having someone who wants a bigger paycheck or wants to play at a certain team. The club is selling unwanted assets that can be sold since they're still technically taking a hit on all those who signed for big money, Drinky Baka barkley baba etc. I don't think they will sign any squad players that can be filled from the youth or reserves. Bakayoko could be our CM4 next season if hi

  11. Interesting for sure but I don't think he is our man. He is relatively quick and nimble for someone this tall but not really strong at that. Would get found at at PL atm. His technique is quite polished tho, can usually trust him to hold the ball up and find a pass. But I would prefer a natural athlete to be our backup striker. Someone with real pace who can press. give Broja 1,2 years and he will be far better than Kalajdzic is now, esp for our system. Kalajdzic to be optimally effective needs the team to play around him, we can not do that.

  12. I really hope we manage to integrate sterling somehow. He is a physical beast and would offer power, height and pace in that position. Moreover he is versatile and can play across the backline. Also RWB is porbably one of the positions more suited to have a novice playing every once in a while. an error there is not as fatal as for a cb and on the other hand there is not as that much countable attacking output immediately demanded.

  15. I have to go with Tomo 100% here. Have been saying the same for ages. I watched almost all of Leicesters 's 2015/16 games and Drinkwater did not look out of his depth at all next to Kante. He was the more progressive ball playing option and his quick collection and redirection of the ball was key to their fast-paced counter-attacking football. I also watched him in their CL matches the season thereafter and he was consistent throughout, esp vs Sevilla in R16. Honestly, based on his championship season, i would have tipped him for a starting spot in england xi. Back then he was in good athletic

  16. Absolutely not, I watched a few games of Drinkwater before he signed, it was quite clear he was level blow a top tier side. From a physical and technical standpoint. It is amazing he is actually worse than the very little I thought of him. I am honestly surprised reading the early pages where people rated him. I stand by it he is the worst signing ever, because he had so little potential. i hated virtually every Conte signing for the exception of Rudigar.

  17. Emerson and Zappa are slightly different, which is why I had them on a separate list. Those two may get a fee and a sale. The other three, no chance. I mean let's look at them: Drinky - possibly and alcoholic with mental health issues. No one is touching him. Batsh*t - A CF that cannot do anything bar put the ball in the net. However, last season he only scored one goal for Palace and was behind Benteke and Ayew. Who is touching him at even £5m? Another problem is where he wants to go. Brugges apprantly offered us a fee and he rejected it as he thought he was to good to go the

  19. It's only getting legs if someone is gonna actually make a move. Right now, we're in an "interesting" scenario with Abraham. 1. If Arsenal want him, they will have to sell players first - e.g. Lacazette - or otherwise, they won't be able to afford him. It's said that they want Abraham on loan but the club want to sell for £40 million. 2. Instead of selling to a direct rival, the club may use Abraham in a cash + player swap deal instead for Rice. 3. Matt Law said that the club don't want to sell Abraham without knowing that we will be able to sign a striker first and they also do

  20. I understood the idea of signing him in isolation. Proven partnership with Kante, was very good at sharp balls over the top on the counter attack and compatible with the type of system Conte played. The Drinkwater of 15/16 would have probably been a regular starter and was very much an upgrade on 2015 onwards Matic. The part that was inexcusable was the wage, surely he would have accepted something along the 60-80k line and if he didn't that should have been a red flag straight away.

  22. I really don’t care for the loss of academy players, the chances they become great players are rare. Just hope the club has mitigated their risk; you don’t want cases like Salah,KDB, Lukaku(even thought I don’t rate him), etc. where they become fantastic players elsewhere. Wonder what is causing them to all leave in unison.

  23. Apparently Timo Werner is open to a move away with being part of the deal to secure Haaland.

  24. If we didn't sign Havertz I would be at least 40% less excited for this squad. I see many want Rice. His partner in double pivot in WH scored double digits last season. Isn't he better player? He didn't finish last 5 games at EURO for England. At one point we will move to 4atb and 3 midfielders. Rice and Mount would play. If we are committing to that MF for next decade we are also committing to no attractive, attacking, progressive football for the next decade as well. With pragmatic football usually everything falls apart after a year or two.

  27. God, i really thought the days of panicking we were going to resign Lukaku were over. Yes he will score goals but we will be a worse overall team (compared to what we've seen under TT so far).

  29. It’s strange. There isn’t t a lot of transfer movement, but of course what little movement there is is happening at the clubs most likely to battle us for a top 4 spot like United and Leicester and even fucking Arsenal. I’m trying to maintain the belief that the reason everything is silent from us is that we’re working secretly on an elephant sized deal like Haaland. But the problem with putting all our eggs in that basket is that we look like naive morons if that doesn’t work.

  31. Without a world class striker coming in, seeing Tammy in that disgusting red shirt would be hard to watch. I’m sure our club understand that well. Sending him to Arse and bringing in some random dude like the striker from Stuttgart would cause huge uproar.

  32. Leeds are supposedly one of the two clubs pushing hardest to sign Bate. So, I'd assume Bielsa/Leeds have plans for him. Think the reason Bate (and the other two) wants to leave is because we still have Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho while Gilmour is out on loan AND we are supposedly looking to sign a midfielder. It's understandable if the likes of Bate doesn't see a pathway to play regularly in the first team in the near future and wants to leave. As Pizy mentioned in the other thread, when these young players see others are making a name for themselves elsewhere, it's probably hard for them

  33. Think we need to give this lad a little credit. Despite his current situation with being demoted to second choice GK... he has handled (pun inteded) the situation like a pro. Fair play... it must not have been easy.. and he hasn't held any bitter feelings towards his team mates or coaching staff. Good lad.

  39. The problem is the teams around us Manchester City and Pep have proven that they have the consistency over a 38 game season Manchester United are signing two world class players in positions of need getting a lot stronger. Liverpool defence being back could add a extra 10 points for them. Chelsea we have a young squad that can improve but really lack goals and all we have done change the situation is Lose Giroud, further more we have no depth for Kante who keeps picking up injuries which is a real worry. Leicester City brought two great signings that improve their squa
