  1. This has got to be the worst suggestion I've seen on here in a while. No offense.

  2. As the season is ending, I don't think we should judge a manager's job based in the last 3 games. The team might finish inside top 3, with a FA Cup trophy, or in 5th and losing FA Cup final to Arsenal. Very different results, but I don't think he should evaluated based in those outcomes. I don't think Lampard's job this season was good enough. The team might well finish in 3rd, but this was a very unusual season. United, Spurs and Arsenal all went through huge period of crisis, and with one game to go, we are closer to 12th placed Southampton than to 2nd placed City. Its tempting to pictu

  3. Chelsea will priortise a goalkeeper once the deal for Kai Havertz is done. Lampard wants a proven and experienced goalkeeper.

  4. James, Tomori, Mount and Abraham had great season in Championship and all got chance this season in Chelsea. Not only as squad players but to be regular. Gallagher is having a tremendous season. So he deserves the same. But tbh circumstances are different. We had transfer ban last summer. If Swensea get promotion he should stay there and play PL regularly. Jorginho and Kante are not far away from leaving. Barkley even sooner. So there will be place for him soon. To keep him next season as 4th/5th choice would be selfish and not good for him. Conor has future in Chelsea. Fra

  6. I think we all agree that we cannot fix all weaknesses in our squad in just one transfer window. And this is perfectly fine. Every team has them and if you have 8 or 9 top players in starting 11 they can cover for those 2 or 3 who are not at required level. Basically you can hide your weak links. For example, when City won the league in 17/18 season with 100 points they had Delph or Zinchenko as LB. Otamendi and Stones were also regular at CB. This is not better from what we have now at CB and LB positions. So after Havertz we will have limited transfer budget but in ideal world

  11. I think it will take for him to play for a Juventus or a City with great players in those attacking areas to actually appreciate him. And before people are gonna tell me Rodri at City does anything better or different then I implore them to actually watch the games because 9 times out of 10 he passes the ball 5-10 yards to either a CB, FB, De Bruyne or David Silva. He had a tough spell last season and a wee bit of a difficult time in games this season but all in all hes hardly been as bad as the usuals make out. The constant chopping and changing in MF hasnt helped either and when it was

  12. And it was a well known fact Hazard was gone as soon as the season ended. Not to mention the transfer ban. For Henrique to have been positive then but negative now is something I for the life of me can't understand.

  22. I have always said Jorgi is a final piece of the jigsaw type player rather than one to build your team around. You're right, if he had been playing for City (las season in particular) people would've been having fantasy wa*ks over him as he would've been so integral for them. However, a further problem is that he is an idiosyncratic player, in that he needs to play in a team that is obsessed with ball retention. That means we has to play under a Wenger/Pep/Sarri type manager and/or a club like Barca where possession is their No.1 concern. My feeling on Jorgi is that; 1) He is a ver

  23. Looking at what's going to be a intense schedule next season do we bring him back for his versatility or let him go somewhere he's going to play every week? He can play DM, CM and winger to quite high standard, so with Gilmour out till October he could be back up DM, 4th/5th choice CM and 4th choice winger, he could even potentially be an emergency fullback Fabian Delph style (especially if we ask him to come inside for tactical purposes). That type of versatility is vital for a squad game at the best of time, let alone with a schedule as packed as what next season's will be.

  24. On their 5th goal he worked hard to get back on that counter, and then just went brain dead about marking his man and Instead just went ball watching. His own reaction to the goal is proof enough that he was responsible. But I am not saying that he shouldn’t necessarily play, just that it’s fair to assign him responsibility for that particular goal.

  25. Yeah you're right, probably will be a couple weeks break after the dead rubber at Bayern and back to training near the end of August. A potential CS match (need to win the cup first, remember!) would then serve as a pre-season friendly. However, there is still another twist regarding season preparations (incl. a reason for the Community Shield scheduling) and that is the fucking international break from 3rd September to 8th September. So really there is likely to be less than a week of pre-season training before the internationals and the PL starts only four days after the break is over.

  26. People still do not understand Jorginho role... See? Most passes into the final 3rd even this season. This is his job. This is why Pep wanted him. He has his flaws of course but there are systems that can hide them. Henry on Pep philosophy: "For him, winning is a consequence of playing well with the ball on the ground, respecting his plan, staying in position and always keeping possession. "He puts everything in place to get the ball up to the final third of the pitch and then trusts his team to finish the job in the only area of the field that can’t be planned for."

  28. Going with back 5 again or changing guys like Willian or putting Chris again is huge, huge risk... You cannot drop players based on last performance. Back 4: Azpi, Zouma, Rudi and Alonso. This back 4 always kept clean sheet this season. Kepa confidence is low so I am ok with Willy starting. Pulisic-Giroud-Willian upfront without saying... And probably unpopular opinion but I would go with Jorginho, Kovacic, Kante in MF. Frank barely used them all together this season. And they were all regular for Sarri. We can rely upfront on Puli and Olie.

  31. Unfortunately, no. Football/soccer is still very niche in the U.S. and rarely makes the headlines. Hopefully the 2026 World Cup will help with that. Our top flight is still relatively young (25 years). Hopefully, the sport will level up in the eyes of the American public in my lifetime. There is no question, Pulisic is the most talented player we've ever had, but the casual sports fan in the United States probably still won't know who he is. The football/soccer fanbase though is excited and many are flocking to Chelsea.

  32. The problem I have with your opinion about Lampard is that you always come up with "yes, he is making mistakes", but at the end of the day you just dismiss most of his mistakes. For example, Lampard's biggest flaw so far is his inability to build solid defensive system, and people pointed that our defense is the same as last season (bar Luiz), but we have conceded war more goals and we look way more vulnerable, then you come up with this narrative: we looked more solid at the defense last season because Sarri played a "risk averse" football, while Lampard has this "attacking firing first" phil

  33. I've defended him for far too long. I'm now officially done with him, there's no going back now. We have to get a new GK. Tbh, I spent most of summer 2018 saying we should sign Cillessen. He's hardly a world class keeper but he certainly isn't any worse than Kepa and would have cost only a fraction of Kepa's massive transfer fee. What a fuck up this turned out to be

  34. I am not having any more of this nonsense about Kepa. The guy is 100% dog sh*t. No if, no buts. Dog sh*t. Yet again, we are having people say that all of the goals yesterday were not possible to save. At least two were for a decent level GK. The freekick goes in because of a combination of sh*t positioning, no anticipation and a lack of effort. I mean where exactly was he expecting him to put it? If TAA had put it in the corner like KdB then of course, no way to save it. That one went in about 0.5 meter from the post and half way up the goal. As for the 5th yet again, he gets a hand to s

  39. I personally welcome supporters of other clubs to this forum as long as they're not here for the wind up. Sometimes it's good to get opinions about players and teams that are perhaps far less biased than our own support base so please don't feel like you're unwelcome here as a non-Chelsea fan. I think things were at boiling point last night (it gets harder by the game as a Chelsea fan to put up with our defensive and goalkeeping shortcomings) so everybody was a bit touchy. On the topic of Pulisic, we can only assume what we have heard from Lampard is true, in that he is or has been c

I couldn't watch this match, and going into it, was honestly not expecting anything interesting in terms of a result ---- (the real interesting end result was Utd vs W Ham), but having said that, WHAT A MATCH! Really proud of our young guns, Pulisic and CHO trying their best to make a comeback, against the title winning Liverpool, and very nearly creating a classic like our 4-4 draw at the Bridge in the CL. Shame that Arsenal reject had to come along to scupper that plan, but whatever. Our objective lies before us. Kepa's form is a big worry. I thought he had turned a corner afte

  41. I was quietly confident before the United game to be honest. Whilst we blow hot and cold seemingly at the throw of a dice, you could see the steady decline of United's performances before playing us, against Southampton and Palace. I didn't watch them today but heard they were woeful. United fans have chirped up in recent weeks but their overall squad depth is really poor and beyond the first 13-14 players they've barely got anything else.

  42. Whilst there are some glaring problems in this team that will continue to hinder us until they are addressed, I think there was some encouragement that the team didn't give up at 3-0 and 4-1 down. It could have easily ended up a serious hiding but the team kept going and with a bit of luck and without the usual half dozen defensive errors we seem to give up, we'd have got a result tonight. Sunday will be difficult simply in the way this team tries to go about it. I don't think we're good enough to set up in a defensive way to draw the game to be honest. Whilst there is no reason to be gun
