  2. There are the Beckenbauers, the Maradonas, the Peles, the Zidanes, the Messis, and the Ronaldos of the game. And then there is Mikel. A player who gets as often forgotten as he gets criticised. A player who isn't necessarily blessed with great athleticism nor on-ball skills. A player who will not often wow you. But a player who, at the end of the day, has given his all and served Chelsea for years. Something, I will dare say, nobody can deny. Over 10 years ago Mikel signed for Chelsea. A tall, lanky boy who seemingly received a yellow or red card everytime he stepped on the

  3. One of the most underrated players to ever put on our blue kit. He gave 110% every time he played and to this day, it shocks me, that people don't see how much he contributed. Absolute beast in that holding role and without him we would not have that first CL trophy to our name. Can't thank him enough for his contributions to our greatest years as a club. All the best Obi! KTBFFH!

  4. BoyBlues96 the solution is Baba back, Van Dyke, Nainggolan. Then we need some height advantage on the right side of our defence. Azpi and Moses to small to deal with crosses. Other players like Ibrahimovic were just unlucky not to score. Go watch chelsea vs man u and u will notice. BTW Chalobah has the pace to close down players like Erikson. Am a bit angry about the goals even if they were like wat we conceded against stoke that will be fine but two identical goals cant believe it

  5. I don't like watching YouTube videos of players best goals and assists because it doesn't show what he does for the rest of the match. But after watching his all his touches for three different games against empoli, Juve and Roma, I've changed my mind about kessie. Sign him up!!! He plays like a young yayatoure. He's two footed, opens up and makes himself for passes, can spray long passes to the wingbacks with both foot, he's strong as hell and excellent at holding the ball under pressure, so dembele and wayanma can't bully him off the ball easily without committing fouls, he has the stam

  8. Detractors can fuck off. Not everyone's cup of tea but always made the effort, never moaned and had the game of his life in Munich. I'll miss defending him to muppets. African Zidane.

  9. It doesn't compensate anything when opponents are specifically targeting him and bypassing our "giants". Cahill himself stands at 1.93m, same height as Van Dijk, and is our best defender in air. This in itself is not a problem, the problem is that we need to stop crosses from coming in so comfortably, until the Spurs game we did that fairly well.

  10. Imagine someone telling this forum a few months ago that both Oscar and Mikel would be sold in the same window. We would've thought it impossible.

  11. I thought he was one of only a few Chelsea players who were able to deal with Tottenham's pressing game. Matic did well, it was Kante who couldn't do anything.

  13. Never fulfilled his potential because he wasn't allowed to.Who but Mourinho can see a talented 19 year old who was caught in a massive tug of war between us and Man United and convert him into a functional midfielder. Mourinho more or less did the same by trying to turn Oscar into James Milner.

  14. I think you are confusing him with Ake who is indeed just 5'11 which will probably mean that we won't become a CB here. I guess Andreas is already lifting. He looks exactly like I did with like 18 or 19 years. Overtrained and undernourished. At that age, with that amount of physical activity and body type you might need 6000+ clean calories per day to even get near a surplus which is required to build muscle. Sticking to such a diet plan requires extreme discipline and stomach volume most people that age still do not have which is the major reason most natural young lifters fail.

  16. You are right. I'm not that worried about Liverpool exploiting this hole because they have no huge target men, they will be playing to their strengths not to our weaknesses. But you can bet everything that Giroud will be a massive headache if we persist with Moses and Azpi on that side, Wenger must be rubbing his hands together gleefully after that Spurs game. That guy is a monster in the air and on his day nearly unstoppable even by hardened defenders. I would like us to try Azpi RWB and Zouma RCB some time to test this combination out, because there will be games where we will need sheer mas

  18. Agree the deal this month and let him stay to end of Serie A season. Good prospect but would be better playing for Atalanta every week as opposed to 15-20 mins every week here. Would also give him a pre-season to get to know the squad and players better.

  20. Tottenham's tactics 1.) Get the ball to Walker and Eriksen and create an overload with Alonso 2.) Force Cahill to come across to help 3.) Make sure David Luiz is busy with Kane 4.) Dele Alli makes a forward run to get on the end of crosses vs Azpi and Moses We had no answer… We have Cahill who was too slow to close down erikson, while walker was occupying Alonso, hazard can't come back to defend that space Cahill leaves as well as Willian/Pedro on the right and combined with an easy person to beat in the air in Azpilicueta, this is a weakness. Mancity did it wit

  22. I wish we can get Verratti. Honestly that would be incredible, a player who is solid defensively, quick, can pass like fabregas and can tackle. But I'm having doubts that we can get him. I read a tactical post from a Juventus fan on Facebook about Conte saying that Conte wants midfielders who can be a number 6 or 8 at any point in the match. Verratti is world class in this role, modric is another but in our team right now both Matic and kante are only good defensively but woeful attacking wise. Fabregas is world class in attack but terrible in defending. Kessie is not worldclass in

  24. Always thoughy he was 5'10" for some reason. But still think some bulk would come in handyy. Hes been good over there but he wasn't on top form with us pre season. And like the weight room has helped Eden out some it might help Andreas. But we will see what the Don makes of it all. Might do all of our heads in.

  25. True. Managers like Conte and Simeone are only managers because they physically cannot play the game themselves anymore, but they very much still are players at heart when they are kicking, screaming and running around like nutcases on the touchline. I can imagine if I was a player I would love that, and we know now by visual evidence and even some implied quotes that our players are loving that after being ruled by someone who is not one with the players.

Conte also admitted that Kurt Zouma's recovery means he doesn't see an urgent need to sign another centre-back this month. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/575981/Antonio-Conte-Chelsea-January-transfer-plans-gossip-rumours-Costa-Premier-League-news

  29. I totally hear you bud. But its time we had a bloomin good clear out. Its great having lads round that we know and who are part of the furniture but with familiarity brreds contempt. This is the Conte era and our old lads just dont fit the style. If I could just bring on JT/Cahill/Iva for set pieces then take them off again it would be perfick! But this isn't US style football so we can't. We gotta start building a team now that will gel and work together for the years to come. One that can dominate in Europe. The old lads have served us proud to which theyve got

  30. With Mikel leaving today I am now faced with the realisation that I am having a hard time saying goodbye to Ivanovic probably this summer. Don't even get me started on JT. Fuck, man. These are the players I've been watching weekly for years now, this can't be real life.

  31. Hmm. From his point of view it is completely understandable to move on, he won everything and in the last years of his career he will make cash money for himself and his family. I liked him first and foremost for his loyal attitude, it wasn't always easy for him as he got offended by the fans many times. He even played out of his position his whole career to help Chelsea, so he deserves a recognition for that. We lost a great guy and a decent squad player.

  32. That's just an excuse really. Like I said, we aren't the greatest creative or technical side out there but we aren't the worst either. Hazard already showed he can play well without Fabregas in the XI. So there's no reason why he can't do it and there's no reason for him to play well in one game and then go completely quiet in the next.

  33. Happy to hear of the move, from both John Obe's perspective and Chelsea's. Although a lot of fans have criticised his performances over the years; I always found him to be a rather steady rock in the centre of midfield and always loyal to the club. Hopefully he will thrive at his new club, particularly as he will likely be the star man (perhaps something similar to Nigeria where he has shown a different side to his game than that shown at Chelsea) and hopefully we received a decent fee for his signature.

Maybe kenedy defending is very doubtful (alonso not so good when comes defend too), bu kenedy probably much better when supporting attack. i mean seeing pedro play at the left side like yesterday, pedro have pace and willingness to take on defender is really much more helpfull to free hazard. I like alonso as player, but actually seeing alonso week in week out, doesnt have any pace to recover when he out of position is sad because that is reall

  38. Why the hell did no-one inform me about his contract situation? Anyway as he's been slowly falling out of favour over the past 3 seasons can't blame him for leaving. China is a bit too cynical for my taste but he's given this club enough to get a free pass on that. Hope I'll manage to find a Chelsea kit with his name on within the next few years.

  39. Not just the marking of Alli, but the freedom of the world erikson had to cross is annoying. Kante and Azpi would never allow that kind of space because of how fast they close down space. But on the Alonso-cahill-matic area they're all slow, only Matic presses the rest back off and KDB and now erikson have the freedom to ping easy diagonal crosses. It's a weakness that ruins our tactics and we must fix it, because now every team have watched this game and will try it all match long till they score.

  41. Our performances have gone down during the festive period because of our thin squad. Now that is over and we'll be back in a month to the one week per game schedule I think we'll be slightly better. Not spectacular but good enough to get the job done. The record also played a part in my eyes and from a lot Juve supporters Conte seem obsessed with these kind of things. They say he basically sacrificed a Europa league final in their own stadium just to trash Sassuolo for some kind of Seria A record (most points or undefeated I'm not so sure). Losing yesterday was bound to happen someday. It s

  44. I only follow a few teams in Serie A, so I cant really say much about the quality of Kessie. However, one of the more upvoted threads (and in my opinion a quality read) over on the CFC section on Reddit was this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/chelseafc/comments/5l59bd/why_we_needs_kessié_conte_tactical_analysis/ It is written by a guy who seems to have followed Conte for a while (probably a Juve fan), and the main point he makes in it is about what kind of CM Conte is looking for. Basically, it is someone like Kante. He wants two midfielders who can run, run and then run some more

  46. I'm thinking about that January window and man it's tough. Our squad is so thin now that we need players asap but you don't want to overcommit now and have tied hands in the summer. I always say that our biggest gap is our right-forward side. When we desperately lack in quality. Now we lack in bodies. 3 players for half a season? City have Navas, KDB, Sterling, Silva, Sane, Nolito, Gabriel Jesus. 7 players. Not to mention that Willian is absolutely hopeless at the moment even by his standards. Leaving us with Hazard and Pedro. Yet if we can't get James in January then what? I d

  48. I like the look of this kid. He reminds me a bit of Ess. He is very powerful, though not yet quite as powerful as The Bison. On the other hand his technique looks to me to be better than our legend's. If I'm right about that, this balances out the scales a bit. I have to admit though that, coming from me, this isn't as big a compliment as it might be since I never really thought Ess's technical level was top notch.
