  1. And stay with Terry and Cahill as main CB's? Who the fuck cares how much we pay for him, we spent 65 pounds 2 players and we still got TV money left plus tons from sponsorships

  2. I guess the David Luiz jokes have run their course now, step up Kalidou Koulibaly Interestingly enough he is rated this highly in Serie A. Browsing around yesterday I saw many Serie A fans comment on how he was between 'top 5' 'top 2' and even some, not Napoli fans, that suggested he was on par with Bonnuci. I read his passing ability is actually incredible and so is capable of playing the ball into the channels for the running offensive players and he's comfortable playing it out from defence. They generally agree £60m does not match his valuation but in the days where we've seen Higua

  4. And why do we believe those accounts?? Di marzio hasn't had an update for a while so im going to call bullshit on any reports that just keep throwing out these random numbers. If we were to go by all the other reports, chelsea bid £45m about 5times over the past week and every time been rejected.

  5. How hilarious, after weeks off moaning about how the board are low balling and can't finish their dinner now we look to have made a breakthrough whining about the price, unreal Ultimately as many have pointed out our defense is vaunrable, other teams will feed on that especially as Kalidou is the best available defender in the market, so we might have to pay a bit extra on this occasion but it's how it goes.

  6. yeah except it's not that easy in reality when you're trying to buy a player that the player's club does not want to sell. We are operating under the idea that eventually they'll cave if we propose enough money. The problem is that according to various reports, we have been offering more and more money (reportedly up to 60M pounds) and as of now De Laurentis and Napoli have stood firm and said no. Whether they are cunning, knowing we are desperate and will keep upping our bids, or simply want to keep the player because he is important for them, is anyone's guess. But to suggest the

  9. I truly hope we fail in our pursuit for a 3rd striker because no top team is playing with 2 9's. I know Conte favours workrate over technique first and foremost but he seriously doesn't believe we have enough creativity in our side right? If Hazard gets injured we are well & truly done for. We've been linked with CB's & strikers all summer but not fullbacks, AM hybrids or wingers. Looks like we'll be the same exact team we've been for the last 3 seasons, a workmanlike side utterly reliant on one player.

  12. I don't know why individually we want this guy, it'll be for different reasons for each of us i'm sure, but the pros I see are pace, strength, physical presence, ball distribution, positioning, anticipation. Bare with me here. Azpilicueta offers all that bar the physical presence (yet he's taller than Cannavaro & the same as Puyol.) I really think we already have the ingredients all here, but the wrong recipe. Azpi / Christensen/Zouma could work wonders theoretically, I really believe so. I've so much faith in Azpi and I know when he loses his pace he'll slip into centre back for who

  13. But the overall plan was still basic and direct - go direct from back to front quickly or get the ball wide and put crosses into the box. We didn't really do that before we changed to 4-4-2. In any case, it's good that we actually have a Plan B, a different approach to when things aren't working well, basic or not, and that we don't actually panic in executing the plan, unlike what we have seen in the past.

  19. Yeah, I'm resigned to the fact it's going to Oscar, Matic and Willian as our midfield mainstays because we're not linked to anyone else in that area of the pitch. Cuadrado wants to go back, so I guess Pedro and MOSES is staying. The only way I see us signing someone there is if Fabregas leaves, which I don't think will happen because I'm sure he's earning good wages with us lol. Ivanovic, it seems, we'll continue to be our predominant right-back at the ever increasing age of 32. One sort of thinks Conte will be blooding in Aina, which I guess we can live with because hey the kid could com

  20. I realy hope he bonds the team together. We have been playing like bunch of individuals with little connection between for a while now. If Conte can somehow unite the team, it would be all I want in his first season. Build pillars then bring in the missing pieces.

  21. Well Kaejr is 27 which the latter two are 21 and 20 respectively. So I see where you're coming from, he can be a good stopgap until those two come to full maturity. However coming from the Turkish league I don't think he'll be preferred to the younger and more physically intimidating Koulibaly. Quick google search on the Dane shows Arsenal with a strong link to them, but I'm still unsure if Mustafi actually rejected them or not. This guy had bags of potential when he was in his early 20s.

  26. Anyone who believes this ridiculous rhetoric that "Chelsea are going to go back in and bid £60m!" You either are new to the whole transfer window thing or extremely naive. Think logically for a second. If Chelsea were to table a bid for player X, in this case Koulibaly, why on earth would they let that info out to the press before an approach is even made? You think clubs are gonna use the media to test the waters before making a bid? "So Adam Burt here's what we're considering doing, we're gonna bid 60m for Koulibaly. We haven't spoken to Napoli but we wanted you to know that that is ou

  27. I don't mind playing 60m for Koulibaly. A long season of Terry, Cahill and Ivanovic as our CBs will be f***ing painful, but forking out 60m+ for Lukaku when we already have Costa and Batshuayi (who are both better IMO), would have to be the most baffling move in the transfer market yet. We didn't need another f***ing striker. We need a LB (we don't one have legitimate LB in our squad) or a midfielder. Please, please, please don't buy Lukaku and just do whatever it takes to get this done.

  28. Bet my life that we won't pay near that for him. It'll be a huge sum but not that high. Don't care if he pans out. Hope he's got thick skin, though. The English media and supporters around the world will savage him with any little mistake he makes.

  30. If we bought Koulibaly for 60 million, we would have him and Kante for just over 90 million. I would say those positions are more important to us than a celebrity footballer like Pogba.

  31. If we're splashing big money on a CB and yet another striker, could that mean conte wants to play 3-5-2 after all ?
    1 point
  32. Yeah, look how quickly Jose got his players at United. We are obviously still trying to haggle with fees but we finished 10th. Invest big now and let Conte pick his players in the long run it will save money. Rather that than sack another manager and pay them off and get in the odd few players every window. We are shit because since Joses first time hear no manager has had the opportunity to build their own team with decent investment

    1 point
  34. C'mon, you can't seriously believe that. Do you not think Conte was briefed about the most promising youth players the club have under contract? We're talking about a guy playing CL football as a starter at a club competing in one of the best leagues in the world at the age of 20, I'm pretty sure even most rival managers know about Christensen and how good he is let alone our own manager.

  35. Being dragged through the fucking mud by the press again. Had this been another player making that tackle on their keeper this would of been forgot about by yesterday, but they continue their bastard witch hunt and will eventually drive him away the gutless cunts.

  36. Would be beyond stupid if we force Cesc out to keep Matic. You can replace Matic, but there's no one with better passing abilities than Cesc Fabregas on the market.

  37. Hazard makes Chelsea fun. Hazard makes football fun. It's a shame his team mates aren't on the same wavelength and don't match his quality. He'd be even better if a far greater amount of the moves he initiates actually come off.

  39. To be fair Jose would often throw on another striker if we were losing or badly needed the win, but the thing is that when he did it - it felt forced, the players weren't sure how to setup and the team was unbalanced, basically just asking to be countered. Conte has actually trained using the 4-4-2/4-2-4 formation with the squad already, they know their roles and duties so it's most definitely not foreign territory to them anymore. It's so refreshing knowing we can play two different systems if need be.

  40. You guys covered well what I was going to say based on what I watched (arrived just after their goal). I think he doesn't want to risk losing his first match of the season and he knows pretty well about our defensive limitations, he wouldn't take a risk with Cesc there because he knows the importance of winning today, but I have little doubts he will use Cesc in many games - but not the most important. I also like the way he reacted - although waiting until the 80th minute was a bit too much for me, but again I believe it was only because this is the season opener for us and he wanted

  41. First game of the season and he's already not afraid of making some big decisions! - Dropped Fabregas, who's one of our only two main creative source in the team - Took Hazard off when the game was at 1-1. Most, if not all the other managers wouldn't have taken the most important player off in that situation - Played 2 strikers upfront, UPFRONT when we needed to chase the win. It was risky but refreshing to see that. Tired of seeing managers put 2 strikers in the XI, only to see them put one out wide
