Chelsea are willing to splash out £40 million to bring Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o to London.

DiarioSport says the Cameroon ace has become Blues owner Roman Abramovich's latest obsession and the Russian billionaire is dreaming of pairing Eto'o with Ivory Coast star Didier Drogba in attack next season.

However, Barca are reluctant to sell and while Eto'o revealed talks had been held with Jose Mourinho in the past about a move to Stamford Bridge, he is currently settled in Spain.

Drogba has expressed an ambition to play with Barca next season, but Abramovich's plan is for him to stay with Stamford Bridge and spearhead a Champions League bid in tandem with Eto'o.

ummm if we do sign eto'o we will have a really good strike force but that also means that sheva and pizarro will be sitting on the bench most the time, and if shev decides to stay i want him to get as much game time as possible and this wont happen if we do sign him...

This will certainly not be a January deal and i can't also see us having him as well as Drogba, mainly because of the ACN hassle. Eto'o could be lined up however to replace Drogba should he leave.

Isn't there talk of the ACN being moved to the summer though?? If that happens all will be fine.

FIFA want it, but it's totally unfair. The reason the ACN is held when it is is because that is the best time weather-wise for it. We have to realise their seasons are different to ours. It's totally selfish for us to demand the ACN is moved and we just have to put up with it.
