Mate instead of asking questions about my country ask questions about yours. Surveys done around the world have proven that India is one of the most racist countries in the world.

Look at that, Australia is one of the most tolerant countries in the world, and I believe that. I have no idea where the idea that everyone in Australia is a racist. There is a lot of casual racism, yet almost no real racism. I'm not racist for starters. I have several good friends that are from China, Saudi Arabia, Phillipines, among other places.

My neighbours are black and that doesn't even bother me. Hell that was the first time I've actually even thought about my neighbours.

But of course only white people can be racist.

Err...neither of those make you not racist. Not saying you are, but yeah.

Sorry, I forgot to answer. I was going to...

Because young men/teenagers get hopped up on alcohol and amphetamine and go out looking for fights. it's easier to target someone that looks different, because that puts a bulls-eye on their back. Sometimes their maybe underlying racial motivations but for the most part it's violence for the sake of violence, not racial violence. It happens to everyone in Australia mind you...

The only organised racial attacks by white Australians I know of was in 2004. It's was a 'retaliation' against a series of gang rapes against white Australian women done by a group of Lebanese men and several bashings of lifeguards. The funny thing is before the gang rapes Lebanese-Australian relations were fine, almost no conflict or anything. But some arseholes did some atrocious things which pissed off some other arseholes.

Can we stop this discussion?

"Some one who looks different" that sounds like borderline racism.

but the same scenario applies to India as well I guess. Foreign people get attacked/raped here more often than I care to admit but when something like that happens, no one is held accountable. everyone shrugs and says "this is India. these things happen" or something along those lines.

Maybe...

But it's not the motivation, it's just so happens to be a apart of it. The motivation is looking for a fight. They think it's easier to get away with attacking a minority, but in the end anyone will do.

Some people see them as 'racial attacks', I see them as 'attacks'. Race to me is just used as a convenient excuse.

Also, sorry if I came off aggressive earlier.

Agree but the 'attack' mentality was more in Australia than other countries with a fair amt of Indian population like UK, Singapore, etc. Now subsided i think

Unnecessary

I really, really detest going to the American Consulate! I had an 8:15 appointment and was on time but did not get seen until 9! Today, it was unbearably warm in the consulate and very slow. :(

It is fascinating to watch the people who are there though. Amazing how people cannot follow directions and assume that because they have an appointment they have the right to walk straight to the counter! Or parents trying to get passports for their children but either do not bring the children or their spouse!

The dumbfounded look someone gives you when you take 5 minutes to turn in your paperwork because you filled it all out ahead of time and correctly with all the pictures need is absolutely priceless! LOL
