Nottingham Forest have signed Chelsea midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah on loan until 15 January.

The 18 year old will be available for Saturday’s trip to Doncaster after agreeing the formalities of his move this evening.

The England Under 21 international enhanced his reputation in the game with a successful loan spell at Watford last season. After extending his initial stay, Chalobah finished the season with five goals and was in the starting line-up for Watford’s playoff final defeat to Crystal Palace.

Sierra Leone-born, Chalobah has captained England at various youth levels and in February pipped Derby’s Will Hughes to England’s FA Youth Player of the Year award.

Yet to make a first-team appearance for Chelsea, Chalobah, a midfielder with plenty to offer at both ends of the pitch and a penchant for spectacular goals, will be hoping to impress Jose Mourinho with some impressive performances in a Reds shirt.

A bit weird he didn't go to Watford as that seemed the logical move for me, and apparently even he wanted to go there, but I guess either way he'd have done well there and will probably do well on this loan.. Forest fans seem happy too, like someone said above apparently they have CDM problems.

Maybe we didn't sign a midfielder because Mourinho wants to give Nat a chance next season.

Regardless of Mourinho's future plans, we're still a midfielder short this season.

For some reason, my gut feeling is that De Bruyne might be 'converted' into a CM (because Willian isn't going to sit on the bench & Schurrle needs playing time)

No I heard it from several sources that Zola wanted him and he badly wanted to go back there but Watford were not willing to pay the percentage wages we were demanding.

Can't be the style of football. Zola may not be the best manager around, but his team plays possession attacking football unlike Forrest who are more "traditional British" team.

Oh the "sources"

Oh the "sources"

Yes, people who follow our youth players on a daily basis like @ChelseaYouth and @daspecial_1. The mail even wrote an article about it IIRC..

Felipe Melo!?!? Fuck off Choulo :P ! Hes shit!

Yeah, we specialize in has-beens when we panic, for some reason..

I don't really watch Forest but apparently they play a 4-4-2, seems like most fans think their midfield will be:

Abdoun Chalobah Lansbury Reid

He'll have played with Lansbury at U21 level, so will hopefully settle in. Their manager was praising him a lot in a press conference.

Also apparently Chalobah's wages are now 30-35k, so maybe you can kind of see why some clubs, PL and Championship, were not willing to pay an 18 year old who'll be there for a season as much as their top earners, or more. (Forest supposedly paying at least 25k).

Any idea if he'll be in the squad for them today?

I'm not sure about today (I believe it though) but after talking to a Forest fan, Chalobah will surely be a regular starter as Forest just sold their DM and Chalobah is exactly the player they need.
