Will be disappointed if Alex doesn't play to null the threat of Davies.

I highly doubt he will. Carvalho and Terry are the first choice partnership at the back, and given that both had a rest on Wednesday, both will be back for this one. Ferreira vs Belleti LB - will be interesting to see who gets the nod.

TEAM NEWS: BOLTON WANDERERS V Chelsea Branislav Ivanovic has been passed fit and will play right-back. Deco is preferred to Joe Cole at the front of the midfield diamond.

Paulo Ferreira retains the left-back spot and big guns Petr Cech, John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho, Frank Lampard and Nicolas Anelka return to the side having been rested for the Carling Cup encounter.

Gary Megson rings the Bolton changes. Kevin Davies up front and Jussi Jaaskelainen in goal return as expected and only Fabrice Muamba retains his place in midfield. Jonan Elmander will partner Davies in a two-man attack.

Chelsea will line up in a 4-diamond-2 formation as follows:
