Snail like it might have been but that Sydney double will forever be one of Tendulkar's greatest innings because he completely cut out all off side shots. They were getting him out regularly, he decided to do something about it and executed it beautifully.

He was on 200 already though (I attended on day 3) and he still didn't quicken the pace which was disappointing. Plus a defensive innings in a team total of 700+ doesn't rate as highly for me as an attacking innings would.

Not arguing your opinion/taste, just pointed out why it's one of his most special performances. For example, Lara said this about it :

India missed a massive trick by not picking Praveen Kumar, who, a few years ago certainly, was better than his namesake. He can't have declined much at all, he's not even 28 yet. Must have done something to irritate the directors of *insert Indian cement company here*. Sub 80 he may be, but PK has a combative character (a rare quality for an Asian, non-Pakistani seamer) and gets the ball to move very nicely. He should be used by India as an away tours specialist and a deterrent to home teams rolling out greentops.
