Chelsea last night swung their attention to £25million Brazilian Maicon Douglas.
The Blues have missed out on long-term target Glen Johnson, with Liverpool confirming an £18.5m deal yesterday.

But Inter Milan right-back Maicon has impressed in the Confederations Cup in South Africa and kept Barcelona ace Dani Alves out of Brazil's starting line-up.

Inter will accept £25m for the 27-year-old defender and are even willing to part with idol Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 27, for another £50m.

Chelsea will appeal against UEFA's punishments following the Euro semi defeat to Barcelona at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were fined £85,000 for improper conduct of players and missile throwing by fans.

Didier Drogba was banned for six Euro games, two suspended for two years, while Jose Bosingwa was banned for four matches, one suspended

bosingwa is better than maicon (who is better than ivanovic and alves) but if bosingwa is used in possible deal to bring either ribery or another high calibre player then the slight drop in talent from bosingwa to maicon is justified.

that said, at least we won't be stuck with johnson again

why are we being linked with right backs!

am i missing something?.. boswinga has only just arrived!

jesus..

IF the roumers of us right back hunting are true, then it is clear that as Bosingwa is wanted at Bayern then we are trying to do a deal with them to bring Ribery to the bridge and Bosingwa going the other way.

We certainly won't make the mistake of doing the deal with Bayern before securing a right back replacement.

I still think losing Bosingwa is a bad idea!!

Bayern are asking for too much money for Ribery anyway, and Man United have probably got enough money from the Ronaldo transfer to sign him.

Maicon - pointless signing!! We're bringing in like for like, and we should be investing in BETTER!!

I agree, Bosingwa is younger and will improve and is settled at Chelsea and in England, why replce him, it will just cost money that we should be investing elsewhere

Inter Milan chief Marco Branca is in London today for transfer talks with Chelsea.

Gazzetta dello Sport says Branca will attempt to agree a fee for Chelsea pair Deco and Ricardo Carvalho and try to include Nicolas Burdisso in their offer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti's interest in Inter fullback Douglas Maicon will also be discussed as a separate deal. The Serie A champs rate the Brazilian in the £25 million class.

Why the fuck do we want Maicon for 25M?

Chelsea and Manchester City left to battle for Maicon as Real Madrid balk at £35m price-tag

Real Madrid are ready to let Chelsea and Manchester City fight it out for Inter Milan right-back Maicon.

Bernabeu dealmaker Jorge Valdano admits the Spaniards have been priced out of a move for the marauding Brazil full-back.

City reportedly made an offer of £25million plus unhappy Brazil midfielder Elano for the San Siro star while Chelsea are said to see him as an improvement on Bayern Munich target Jose Bosingwa.

But Valdano said Madrid would not be following up enquiries after being quoted a £35m asking price for the 27-year-old.

'Inter's asking price is 40m euros,' Valdano said. 'But we will not make such an offer seeing as in that position we already have Sergio Ramos, who has nothing to envy the Brazilian for.'

Source Daily Mail.

If the asking price is truly £35m then we won't be in for him either!

The only possible reason we could be in for a right is if we are to use Bosingwa to get Ribery, but we would be mad to pay £35m for the replacement right back.
