Didier Drogba lies in pain after sustaining an injury against Spurs.

Drogbawas forced off in the second half at Stamford Bridge when he pulled upfollowing a shot and was stretchered off in evident pain.

With atally of five goals in six Premier League games so far this season, thesight of Drogba being substituted was a worrying one for Chelsea fansdespite the 3-0 win extending their 100% record to six games.

But examinations of Drogba's problematic calf have calmed fears regarding a nasty injury for the Ivory Coast international.

"He had the most horrendous bout of cramp," assistant manager Ray Wilkins told the club's official website.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have also confirmed that Joe Cole and Yuri Zhirkov will both be handed their first starts of the season in Wednesday night's Carling Cup tie against QPR.

Colehas not played since suffering knee ligament damage in January whilesummer signing Zhirkov has so far been denied a debut due to a kneecomplaint.

...They will also be joined in the travelling party by Yossi Benayoun, who has recovered sufficiently from a groin problem to be available for selection, and Didier Drogba, who had hernia surgery last week. Four players, however, will remain in England.

'We will keep here Cech, Alex, Bosingwa and Deco because they need to work on their fitness,' explained Ancelotti...

Interesting to see Drogba going, he must be able to train then.

I'm not sure. If he's on the plane it means he is able to train. It doesn't necessarily mean he can feature in Germany but nevertheless it means the medical department think he is fit enough to partake in training. Let's not forget he was only originally said to be out for three weeks and knowing the wonders of modern recuperation techniques he could well be fit for the first league match at least.

Will be nice to see Zhirkov now when he has been taught how we play and felt one season in the PL, he did great covering for Cole but I long for him in the midfield! He'll be 27 in around 21 days so it's a great player to have and personally I'd love to see him getting more playtime.

Definitely agree. I think Zhirkov had a great first season with us, and hopefully, should he get more playtime he'll only get better. It will be tough shifting Ashley Cole out of the left back position at the moment, but he's an excellent utility player to have.

I think Zirkov was great the whole season when caled upon, especially in the Aston villa and bolton games. One thing for sure, Chelsea has many options on the left side (from defence all the way to attack). Its just a shame the same cant be said concerning the Right side. we lacking a right footed winger. imo

Just heard Daniel Sturridge won't be heading to Germany due to injury, will confirm later...

Hope its not a bad one, cant afford to have another striker out.
