Italian giants,AC Milan have moved in for Chelsea of England and Super Eagles holding midfielder,John Mikel Obi and are ready to prise him away from Roman Abramovich's club in July when the summer transfer window is opened.

Milan, which recently secured a loan deal with 33 year old David Beckham are beginning to inject young blood into a team of ageing legends and are desperate to exploit Chelsea's reluctance to discuss the Nigerian's contract extension talk.

Italian football website,Tutto reported yesterday that Milan have made enquiries about the player and are willing to splash as much as four million euros a year on him for his salary.

The website further reported that Milan are encouraged by Chelsea's dillydalying attitude on the former Lyn Oslo of Norway star.

Mikel should be honoured for it... considering AC Milian wants him.

I always feel he is just a decent midfielder.

If he could wack in a few nice shots that scores goals, I think he will even be more wonderful. The sad thing is he can;t.

The Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho is once again being reported to be planning to raid his old club Chelsea for a midfielder, but this time it is not Frank Lampard, it is John Obi Mikel.

The young Nigerian was bought by Mourinho while he was Chelsea manager, and now wants him to join the Italian champions.

Mikel has been in contract negotiations with Chelsea, but the two sides have so far failed to come to an agreement, and it seems that Mourinho is keen to hijack any further talks.

One paper has even gone so far as to say that Mikel and his agent have already agreed terms with the Italian giants, and they are just waiting for the season to end to finalise the deal.

Jose Mourinho is ready to raid former club Chelsea by making a £15million bid for midfielder John Obi Mikel.

The Inter Milan boss believes Chelsea will be ready to sell as part of a dramatic summer overhaul planned in the wake of their Champions League heartbreak.

Chelsea may be reluctant to sell Mikel to Mourinho.

The midfielder has made 44 starts this season, having enjoyed the longest first-team run of his Blues career, although he has failed to score a single goal at Stamford Bridge. But with cash needed to inject new blood into an ageing squad, Guus Hiddink might see Mikel as a saleable asset, especially as the African is far from a favourite with the Stamford Bridge fans.

Mourinho signed the Nigerian from Lyn Oslo in 2006 for an initial £4m after winning a transfer battle with Manchester United.

Chelsea subsequently paid United £12m in what was viewed as "hush money", although the contract Mikel is said to have signed was deemed illegal in a court case involving ex-Lyn supremo Morgan Andersen.

JOSE MOURINHO is planning a double swoop on Chelsea this summer - with Ricardo Carvalho and Mikel John Obi in his sights in a combined £21million move.

Inter Milan chief Mourinho is hoping to capitalise on the uncertainty surrounding Chelsea at the end of this season, as the club waits for a new manager to take over, by swooping for some of the players he first signed for the Blues.

Centre-back Carvalho, 31, has played only two games in the last four months because of a hamstring problem, but Mourinho is set to offer around £6m for a player who is rated as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.

Inter have already had talks with Chelsea about Portugal star Carvalho who was one of the first players Mourinho signed – from his old club Porto – when he arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2004, and was a key part of the side he led to back-to-back league titles.

Mourinho, who has also targeted £25m-rated midfielder Mikel, wants to move in and grab players before Chelsea’s new manager - expected to be Carlo Ancelotti - gets in and becomes fully acquainted with his squad.

Chelsea will be reluctant to let Carvalho go but a potential replacement has already been lined up in Porto’s £15m Bruno Alves. Carvalho’s poor injury record this season will also be a factor, and with new arrivals sure to come in over the summer, the club could decide to cash in.

Inter have already had talks with Mikel’s agent John Shittu, with the Italians offering about £15m.

Mikel, 22, was signed by Mourinho for Chelsea in 2006, but was expected to be offered a new deal by the club at the end of this season.

His current deal runs out in 2011 and he has been offered a highly lucrative five-year contract by Inter, having fallen behind Michael Essien and Michael Ballack under Guus Hiddink.
