Espirito Santo is the manager we should have gotten, but it is what it is. We have to make do with our naive tactics of collapsing every second half to even relegation candidates at home for this season.

Let's hope we somehow scrape a win here..

They look as though they've taken a step back from last season so far. Commentator suggested today that their EL fixtures are effecting them. With their best CB now suspended, that should help us a bit.

But Wolves are the prototype side if you want to play against us effectively. Loads of pacey, athletic players in wide areas, a couple of great long ball midfielders, and a striker who presses constantly and will pounce on mistakes at the back in Jimenez.

I fear that if Kante and Rüdiger aren't back and fully fit in 2 weeks time Wolves will beat us.

Any news on rudiger and kante return ??

Loftus-Cheek, Rudiger, Hudson-Odoi, Reece James, Kovacic, Pedro, van Ginkel, and Kante - Latest Chelsea injury news and expected return dates

https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/players/loftus-cheek-kante-chelsea-injury-16574172

Here's the latest injury news from Cobham.

Antonio Rudiger

Rudiger is well on the way to making a comeback from a knee injury that ended last season prematurely.

The defender has played 180 minutes for the club's development squad in recent weeks, playing the matches against Liverpool and Tottenham.

Rudiger wasn't included in the squad for the match against Sheffield United, but should be fit enough to make his comeback after the international break vs Wolves.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Another player we could potentially see back on the pitch this month is Hudson-Odoi.

He has been out of action since rupturing his Achilles' tendon back in April against Burnley.

The Chelsea boss has received a boost, with the 18-year-old participating in training with the rest of the first team, meaning that the youngster could be available after the international break.

"Callum is training, looking bright and sharp but now we're in the zone where it's about protecting him, giving him conditioning with fitness, especially in the area of his injury," Lampard said.

"He has had quite a long time out. Like with Rudiger’s injury.

"The international break comes at quite a good time for us with both of those and for Reece James.

"They’re all in a position where, I hope, two or three weeks of strong training puts them back in the frame for the squad and available."

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Loftus-Cheek was establishing himself as a key member of Maurizio Sarri's squad at the end of last season.

However, in the post-season friendly ahead of the Europa League final, Loftus-Cheek suffered the same fate as Hudson-Odoi and ruptured his Achilles' tendon.

The midfielder is still undergoing rehabilitation and it is still going to be some time before Loftus-Cheek is back to full fitness. He is expected to be back later than teammate Hudson-Odoi, with PhysioRoom having the player down to return at the start of November for the away game at Watford.

Reece James

James will be hoping to push for a place in the first team in the coming months after a superb loan season with Wigan Athletic in the 2018/19 campaign.

Looking set to feature heavily for the team in pre-season following the appointment of Lampard and Jody Morris, the 19-year-old damaged ligaments in his ankle during the Toulon Tournament and had to undergo surgery, but is now well on the way to recovery.

With Davide Zappacosta having completed a move to Roma on loan for the rest of the season prior to the European deadline, it appears that James will be back to challenge Cesar Azpilicueta for the right-back spot soon.

PhysioRoom have pencilled in a return date of Saturday, September 14 for the player, meaning that the international break has come at the perfect time in the full-back's recovery.

N'Golo Kante

The Frenchman has missed the last two league games due to an ankle injury picked up in training.

The influential midfielder has been left out of the France squad in order to help him recover to be able to make his return after the international break

Pedro

Was pulled out of the side to face Norwich at the last minute, and also missed the encounter against Sheffield United due to a hamstring strain. The Spaniard will be another player who will be aiming to be fit by the end of the international break.

Mateo Kovacic

The midfielder returned to Chelsea from international duty with Croatia on Monday due to an achilles injury. Kovacic did play 83 minutes of the last Premier League outing against Sheffield United, but has withdrawn from international duty, where he was due to take on Slovakia and Azerbaijan in Euro 2020 qualifiers. The 25-year-old will now return to Cobham to receive treatment.

Marco van Ginkel

The midfielder is a long term absentee, having suffered an Anterior Cruciate ligament injury. The Dutchman is on the way to recovery, having posted a picture of him doing bike work alongside Reece James and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, although there is no return date provided for the 26-year-old.

Fucking Hell.

He we go again game number 5 of this season, and the doom mongers are at it again.

Saying we've got no chance and even that we should of got Espirito Santo instead of Lampard...oh and Wolves aint even won a game this season.

It seems to me that some of you just enjoy coming on here to pillory Lamps and the players.

Simply too soon to judge. Yes we look flat here and there, yes our second haves still very shaky ( why the fuck is it so ), we have many injuries. So still way too soon to get excited or go doom and gloom. Im sure Lamps have seen our flaws, it might take time to rectify but we will get there once the squad is at full power. Lamps just needs not to be naive, dont game 4231 when we have injured players, abolish zonal markings and get his subs right.

This season was always gonna be unstable, got averae players, many youth ones, he himself a rookie, a fucking ban ( thanks alot ), and refs that have gone even more horrible with VAR.....so you see it wil be unstable.

Just grab the 3pts vs Wolves and lets build on that, a loss and we have an avalanche on us.

Thank God our rivals are just as fucked.....we must pounce asap. We need CL to grab them goodie players.

We can get them anyway.

If Arsenal can attract Pepe and Aubamayang while playing Europa we will have no problem.

Yeah I bet we can.....but without CL it will be harder to get them really quality ones, we most likely wont go for elite players anyway but my view still stand. CL will do us good I reckon.

I have a feeling this game will be a fucking hard watch, they are a really top home side.

After that shit can performance against Sheffield United the players have a big point to prove here, they need to stand up and be counted.
