Agee regarding Moses, but not Alonso. even if I did not like him as a player, I do, his numbers during the winning campaign are kinda hard to dismiss.

and much of what I saw during that time reappeared just like magic when he’s back in the wb position.

that’s one can of worms tho - we’ve been there before.

btw, my point above was that even if Moses did an ok job in that position, Pedro could’ve done that too against Valencia.

It will be if it doesn't change. Setting up for defending from set plays is done on the training ground so constantly conceding goals from them is a reflection on him, Jody and whoever else and whatever they are trying to get across.

Not playing Pulisic in any capacity v Valencia and even not starting him today also looks like a mistake for me. He has pace and geniune ability to take players out of the game in 1 v 1s.

It's not just the set piece defending, it's also the defending from open play. Hate to say he's right but Mourinho talked about being compact defensively in our opening game and that's what we aren't at the moment. We just don't look solid in general. Every opponent attack feels like it's gonna result in some sort of chance or some sort of panic/mistake in defence. Look at that first Liverpool goal today. It all came about because Kovacic/Jorginho pressed Mane in half-hearted manner and he went past them like they weren't even there. That's just one example. There have been so many times already this season where opponents just ghost past our midfield. Kante in there will help but he can't do it all alone. He can't do it all alone when there's no coherent effort in our pressing and the others are so flimsy and pathetic with their challenges!

He looks out of his depth tactically. I think he was very naive in the way he set up so deep, if that was indeed the intention.

I do think it is a personnel rather than tactical/formational problem - square pegs, round holes and all that... but we saw last season the effect of failing to compromise as a manager, and it is repeating itself this year. He is probably even more stubborn than Sarri.

Everything about us just feels very loose at the moment.

Majority of goals this season we conceded because of Azpi and Zouma. Today Azpi and Chris made fouls that lead to goals. Alonso and Chris again with poor marking for second goal. Logically speaking when we play our best four at the back James, Rudiger, Tomori, Emerson we won't concede much goals.

Maybe from open play, but at set pieces I'm not sure. It isn't just those you mentioned that aren't tightly marking, it's everyone.

Have to disagree here.

set pieces is the entire team responsibility. 

Even if azpi started slow, happens with older players, he’s already back to his norm imo.

it seems that regardless who plays, we concede goals all the same.

aside from the obvious issue with set pieces, I think it has more to do with the directness that our young players play which makes defending difficult, esp when under pressure. Gotta keep the ball when the opposition presses high.

tammy was very very poor in the first 30min or so. Missed easy passes, touches, and made no runs. The opposition then has the ball more and hence attacks more.

I honestly don't know how you can say that from watching today's game. We were the better team. It is individuals who are letting us down. Frank has gone toe to toe with arguably one of the greatest managers of the modern era and has nowhere near disgraced himself. Take Ole Gunner for instance, now he is waaaaayyy out of his depth and it shows quite clearly... whereas Frank has actually surprised me with the way we are performing. His subs are abit questionable but that will come with time.
